my boyfriend and i have been together for 2 years, we aren`t your average lovey dovey couple. we pretty much joke around with eachother all the time, calling eachother names(not bad) but jokingly. once in awhile he has his sweet moments to me, but it's very rare. lately i have been missing him be nice/sweet to me. it's been so long. i've mentioned it to him but he just jokes around about it. i guess it's partially my fault because i am such a sarcastic/joking person, but any girl likes to hear their boyfriend be sweet to them, it makes them feel good. anyone else agree? how can i get him to lay off joking around and be serious once in awhile ::sighs::

first of all, i'm a guy and i agree with you. second, he just has maturity issues. I don't know how old he is, so really i'm just speculating. But it sound to me like you're ready for a serious relationship, and he's not at that level yet.

Many times we mirror what we see and hear. So if your bf is seeing and hearing joking and sarcasm and name calling, he is likely to mirror that. Try treating him the way you want him to treat you. And keep it up. Don't just do it for a few minutes, try treating him with sweetness and gentleness and love and tenderness for an entire day, or many days. if he doesn't come around then you have learned that doesn't work...and may decide that this isn't the kind of relationship you really want. But extend yourself and see if he responds appropriately.

This may take a little time but if you keep being a sweetie and chill out on the sarcasm then he will see the vulnerable side of you and he will get sweet back. Show your fem side and tell him he looks handsome today. Buy him a lovey card

wow, it doesn't sound normal. i am sarcastic and bitchy but it doesn't mean i will allow my man to be the same way waround me. only i have the right to do jokes. i think u can't teach an old dog new tricks - u tought him he can treat u that way, if u start complaining u just will make him confused and angry. well, better luck next time, at least u learned your lesson

I would say since he isnt taking the hint... maybe you should take the initiative... you know cook him dinner, order take out and use candles, do something sweet to him, let him know you would like serious nights as well as fun and joking ones... he will follow by example and surprise you one night as well... dont stress over it.
