Personally, I think it IS. Like most of the rest of our body- our stomachs shut down for the night after we fall asleep (THAT'S why you get gas; the food just SITS there all night & ferments in your stomach until you wake up). Some people DO seem to gain weight if they eat before bed. Others seem to have more nightmares. And still others have trouble falling asleep. What you might want to TRY; is having a very small snack- just before you go to bed, & then a BIG breakfast in the morning. That should get rid of your gas problem.

Eating a big meal and then going to sleep is how sumo wrestlers gain their weight. I try not to eat right before going to bed, because your metabolism slows down then. That's probably the reason for your gas problem. Your indigestion slows considerably when you're sleeping so the food just lies in your stomach fermenting.

It's not the best habit to be in, but it also really depends on what you're eating and how much.
The problem is, if you eat then lay right down, your metabolism is slowing down a lot for sleep, so it's not utilizing the calories from the meal as much as it would be when you're awake, so it tends to just settle and the excess is converted to fat.
I suppose if this is the only opportunity you have to eat, keep to the healthy foods, reduce the carbs and fat intake and go for lean meats, and keep the portion low. Just enough to stave off hunger a bit.

To aid in proper digestion, it is best to wait a minimum of an hour after eating, before going to bed.
I'm not sure if that is based just on lying down versus sitting up but that is what the doctors I have spoken with regarding it have said, and found it to be reasonably effective at preventing upset stomachs etc.

Instead of eating a meal, try something light like a salad or some bread and butter. First take 2 tbls. apple cider vinegar in a glass of water before your meal. ACV has 93 vitamins and minerals. I have eaten before bed and I have not had any weight gain. My cats always eat before a nap and they are fine. ACV will give you lots of energy too and make you feel so good. I used to be a lady wrestler in Japan and we always ate before bed. I never gained weight.

At least for me, eating before bed is a very bad idea. If I do, I wake up with a bad stomach ache usually. Also, eating food right before bed can make it harder to go to sleep. I would suggest bringing something along with you to eat at work or if not possible, make sure your late-dinner is something light (like noodles or soup).

I consume earlier than I pass to mattress and not anything occurs? Then once more, I'm speakme like a snack now not fried bird. Anyway, load up at the peanut butter. I have wrestler peers who use peanut butter to hold their weight up.

It is all about what you eat. If you eat a well balanced diet, this should not be a problem. As far as the gas, beano??
