She is a Maltese x shi zu but more Maltese,
She's around 6 months old and has the temperment of a teddy bear lol.
She is just the sweetest!
But what really annoys me is that she is always staring at me, when I do the dishes, when Im on the computer she just sits there and watches me till she falls asleep on the couch.
She always wants to be near me all the time, she dosn't want to be left alone in a room, I go into the lounge she follows and sleeps under the couch,
I know she suffers with a little bit of seperation enxiety, however you spell it but could there be another problem?
Dose she think im just going to dissapear or something?

my maltese stares at me, too. she just turned 2 years. I don't know why either! It's so weird! But, I guess she just loves me! I don't think it's the seperation anxiety because my dog is literally never alone right now(i live at home with parents....eeeeek!). I think your dog just loves you..you are the "leader of the pack" and to your dog, YOU are the only one who provides food for her..so she is going to make sure she knows exactly where you are at all times. Maltese are the TRUE companion dogs...she's my first after having terriers and golden retrievers my whole life.

I think that a little bit of it is that she is so young. She follows you b/c she wants your attention. Some of it has to do with her having seperation issues, and she doesn't want to be alone or be left alone. Also, remember, dogs are pack animals and now you are her pack. When you get up to go to the kitchen, she goes to. Most of it is natural behavior. It is all the pack dynamic of the dog. The only time my dogs don't follow me from room to room is when they are sleeping or outside. Because I am the leader of the pack, they are always trying to be there to make sure I don't drop food or show the other one attention. It is a protection thing too, they have to see you to know you are their and know you are safe.
Think of in the wild, no dog is found by themself b/c they are more vulnerable than in a pack.

She stares at you for a few reasons 1) she loves you 2) she is a healthy, inquisitive puppy and as 'pack leader' she is trying to learn from you 3) she's bored. Take her run/long walk (30 minutes or more) every day.
After about a year, she may become slightly more independent but she will always probably follow you around.

Awwwww! She loves you! You could always try a doggy daycare for say a half hour a couple times a week and slowly work up to longer periods. That way she will know that you are not everything in the world. It will allow her to play with other dogs and people. Hopefully it will make her a little more independent.

It is love......Don't be afraid, be Thankful. Just like people, when someone tells you they love you, it means more with eye contact then if they were to say it while walking away. Everytime she looks at you, I'm sure she wishes she could tell you how much she loves you. Try kissing her on her head reasure her you love her to. Just like a baby. A baby wants to be with their mommy all the time for comfort, it will get better the older she gets hopefully. Good Luck, you must be an awesome animal owner.

Remember, at six months she is still a baby. I have a year old mini poodle and he has major separation anxiety. He has a little blue pillow he carries around like a security blanket and takes some of the pressure off of me. Maybe she needs a special toy or blanket or pillow?

Some dogs just enjoy watching people. Maybe it helps them feel connected to you. It could also be that your dog wants attention. Dogs use their eyes to communicate, as well as their ears and voice. My dog usually stares at me when he needs something...normally food, attention, or to be let out.

Tammy,,,girl that dog loves you to death. My pit bull Max does the same exact thing. He watches every move I make. He watches me cook, do dishes, he is sitting right here beside me as I am typing. Sleeps with me. They are just very bonded. I love him as much as he loves me. Your girl loves you. Enjoy her. .why would that annoy you...she loves you.

What ever you do, do not stare at any dogs eyes or that means you are challenging them which could lead to a dog attacking and biting you.
