I've already filled my taxes and discovered that I received nothing back from state. Since I worked in Ohio from January 2006 to May 2006, but live in California, and I don't claim residency in Ohio, does this mean that I loose all of the money that I paid into Ohio state tax??? Please help. Thanks.

If you don't get any money back it just means that you paid in the right amount of tax, that's all.

Since you are domiciled in CA, you must file a non-resident OH return listing the OH income only, and pay any tax due to OH. Then you file your CA resident return, listing all income from all sources and take a credit for the tax paid to OH. If there are any refunds due from either state, you'll get them.

I am not a CPA but, don't you need to file in the state you worked in? I think you need to file in the state of Ohio not the state of California. You don't get out what you don't put in. If you're not planning on going back and file yes, i guess you loose it!

Did you get a state tax form from Ohio? Do they even have a state tax?
