why should anyone fear god, if there is an omnipresence that is all knowing loving and forgiving, then the idea of fearing it is very ironic. I will loosely quote the movie kingdom of heaven. "Do not fear god, he will understand and if he does not understand, Then he is not god". I believe this quote somes up my entire view of religion. however, believing this pretty much excludes you from christianity, which is one of the primary religions that believe in an Omnipresence. Just a bit of Irony, thanks for your time.

im getting alot of responses about him being our judge and stuff like this. That in its self is the question, if he is god then why on earth would he judge us. he Knows we are not perfect, why would he care if we did or did not believe in him, especially when "he" has givin us NO imperical evidence stating otherwise. Also, to the guy who wrote that i should fear the guy who wrote that quote, your logic is completely flawed and does not begin to make sense which is a sign of a fleeting scramble to justify ones own beliefs, please go away. Anyways, my point is, i dont understand why god would CONDEMN US TO HELL FOREVER for anything we ever did, especially if he understands why we did it.

well the first thing i want to say is do you know who wrote that script?

I am sure you can find out, but off the top of your head do you know?

And do you fear this person? Why or why not?
Well GODS very word is the food you eat, GODS own spirit is the air you breath, His foolishness is higher than the wisdom of ALL men. And he gave his life for you...only to defeat death, the very thing that would claim you at the first free moment. GOD is GOD. If you dont fear GOD, then i can only conclude that you fear everything else.

It's not ironic at all. As someone else already said, the word fear isn't used in the context of being scared of God. It's sort of like a parent/child relationship. You love your parents, you respect them (most of the time) and when you do something wrong, it disappoints them and you (should) feel bad for that. It really goes for any relationship you're in. You care for the person so, you don't want to let them down or hurt them.

Your have just rationalized yourself up carte blanch to sin. But you have a minuscule point. It is true that you will not get to heaven by not sinning . It ain't gonna happen. What gets you into heaven is Believing in Christ's unstoppable forgiveness. You talk about God and his love for us. Do you love him back? You talk about his understanding. Do you try to understand him? He said "if you love him you will keep his commandments" understanding !!... do you understand that sinning hurts him. He has the same emotions we do . Love him obey him and there will come a time he will make all of your obedience to him more than worth all your effort. I have learned that love means sacrifice. If you sacrifice for him suffer for him ,you will have stored unimaginable treasure for yourself in the kingdom of god.

We are not to fear the true God. God is Love (1 John 4:8). There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18). Yet, we are told to fear Yahweh in the Old Testament. That makes me believe that if God is love, then Yahweh is not God.

Because He is the Lion of Judah. He laid waste to whole people groups who refused to believe Him. He is loving and merciful, but what is a just God supposed to do when he gets spat at in return for extending grace and mercy time and time again?

When the Bible talks about fearing god it does not mean that you should be afraid of being struck by lightning. What it means is having the fear to disobey Him/ disappoint Him. God loves sinners, he just doesn't love sin.

Too many paradoxes with God.
1. Why would God favor the Israelites over everyone else, even though they were so immoral at times?
2. Why would God ever grant our prayers? By answering my prayer, God indirectly hurts another who is hurt by God's helping me. For example, praying for a new job means depriving someone else of a potential job.
3. Why does God let evil go on in this world?
4. Why is God great and loving while God is still violent and reckless?
5. Why does God preach modesty while God demands that we pray to God to get into heaven?
6. Why does God give preference to God's "Jesus-freaks" if God is supposed to treat all equally?

EXPLAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not fear God , I fear my wrong doing , because by the laws of God , it will come back to me

when I say I fear God , I do not mean him , not the creator himself , only his laws in the creation , the laws we all live and die by them

I fear pain , weakness , sadness , judgment ...

the only thing that can give any one any hope , is God

his love , his mercy , his peace

I fear myself ... not God

-----------------

you will not go to eternal hell because you don't believe in God, you are free to believe in him or not

but you may go to eternal hell if your nature , the one you create by what you do in life . makes hell the best place for you ....

tell me , if Satan went to heaven , to paradise .. what do you think will happen to him ?
I can tell you this , he will try to KILL himself !
he can't stand paradise , it's hell TO HIM
the real hell , is his paradise
got my idea ?

judgment is only a way to make you know your true self , your true nature , by that nature , you will be send to the best place for you

some people LOVE pain , they love EVIL , they LOVE to hate
can you imagine some one like that in heaven ?!!!

did God create him that way ? NO
you choose
you are a creator too

" I have changed , when I believed in Yahweh\Jesus\Allah\..etc"
" I feel like am a new person"

did you hear that before ?

our life on this earth is for training ourselfs for our final and eternal place
that's what religion , teachings of the masters or prophets or sons of god is all about

even if there is no religion , no prophets or masters
even if no one believes in God at all

you will go to the place you belong
the one you trained yourself to belong to , all your life

imagine this :

God created us , and he didn't give us a chance , no life to live , he send some of us to heaven and others to hell .. end of the story
he is God , he can do anything he want !

" no , I have the right to choose "
you would say
right ?
sure , I know I would

but now , when he did give us a chance to choose
a life to learn and know who we really are
you don't like it

what do you like ?
who you really are ?
where do you belong ?

do not fear God
Fear yourslef

you are the one who judge yourself by what you do
not what you think or what you say

If you believe you must fear him. Because if he exists, and hell exists, then God is a Sadist. In fact, if he is our father, then why would he punish us for learning. Especially about something like "good and evil". God supposedly kicked his two children out of his house (garden) for just that. Just think if your parents punished you every time you learned something new. Crazy!

One definition of fear is to "acknowledge that something has power over us". In this context, fear of God is simply acknowledging God's power over one.
