Work ethics at the production plant and pride in what they do. Did you notice that these American Automotive plants do not hire undocumented workers? What does that have to say to the all American automotive workers?

It doesn't say anything about the workers! It's against the law to hire undocumented workers.

Most of the foreign cars are made in the US. It was many of the US cars that were made in Mexico and Canada!

The fact that the American Auto Corporations, who had sold junk for years, including the Time bomb Corvair, Cut costs, cut corners and made a sloppy product.

Though they have gotten better, they have lost to much of the US and World market! All they cared about was Horse power and changing looks every year. That did little for cars that rusted out before they were paid for!

Why do you think America always tries to blame those who have little to do with the issue.

Automotive workers had little to do with the demise of an inferior product, Illegals have little to do with the factories that use them for slave labor on government contracts, and other jobs. Everyone in America knows it is against the law to hire an illegal, but that doesn't stop them. Why don't people blame those that hire them rather than the victim?

All the companies you mentioned have factories in the U.S. The difference is: They don't have their engineers and design facilities in the U.S.

Further, (and I've studied Shewhart and Deming since the late seventies, kiddo) most of their U.S. production amounts to little more than "screw-driver" assembly plants - run by robotic automation and even re-calibrated in the absence of human hands.

The quality of U.S. cars (refer to the most scientifically accurate of surveys: J.D. Power) has surpassed most of the competition. Cadillac is more reliable than any make except Lexus and its (Cad's) customer satisfaction rate is higher.

To showcase the grounds supporting your point, look at Hyundai and Kia. In their introductory phase, Hyundai's first cars in the U.S. (1986) literally had entire parts falling off the car on freeways. Transmissions were notoriously fallible.

Now, both Hyundai and Kia are on par with Toyota, Saturn, Buick, Honda, etc. Why?

Well, Puto, are you sitting down?

Okay, then. I'll tell you. E D U C A T I O N

I'm sorry. You say you missed that? I can say it again, then.

E D U C A T I O N

See, the factories are a thing of the past. All robotics. Didn't pay enough for us "fat lazy pasty white Americans" anyway.

And, now? Japan has closed dozens of their own! Seems kind of catchy, huh?

The only money left in CARS and ALL OTHER industries including agriculture (read: LETTUCE and BERRIES) is in the engineering sector. Can you say P H D? (Ph. D.)

Labor is dead. It's gone. Don't believe it?

Or better yet, open a "witch-doctor clinic".

I met classmates in colleges over 20 years ago without legs, limited use of hands, restricted vision and worse...and guess what, PUTO? They're making more than most people who can run a 4-minute mile but can't read!

See you in the 1300's

Buh-Bye!

I'm not American, but I like American cars, twenty times better to look at too, they make great trucks, I love my Dodge Ram lone star, Jap cars are bloody boring, plain and ugly but practical and functional, snore snore!!!

Most of the Jap cars are made in the US aren't they, but I don't think you will see them exercising with the robots first thing on a morning like they do in Japan.

Actually Cantcu - we do blame the ones for hiring them. That is the issue along with the illegals. We're upset that they don't run those SS#'s and verify if it's legit. We're upset that they don't want to pay family paid wages, and would rather keep those wages low by hiring illegals. We also blame the landlords who rent out vacant homes and apartments to them as well. We blame the welfare agencies, and food program agencies who are catering to them. We blame the disability agencies who are handing out Handicap car tags like they are candy to illegals. We blame the city, county, and state agencies that allow illegals to have or obtain a license that was illegaly made in the first place - let alone don't run the plates of cars they drive to see if they have insurance on their cars. Mexican men for the most part have their women do the driving for them. Why - they are least likely to get pulled over. We are upset with our insurance companies who are charging those of us who do obey the law and carry insurance for charging us more because of jack*ss's that won't carry any. That statement applies to Americans too. We are upset at the education system because illegals haven't contributed to those services and agencies, yet those agencies welcome illegals in to teach them and yet at the same time b*tch and belly ache that they are working way too hard, that the classrooms are over-crowded, that there are not enough books and supplies to go around. We are upset at the medical institutions because we have to pay more for our hospital care, and expenses because illegals can't afford to pay for their own - so the buck gets passed on to Americans who have insurance or not. We are upset at our government because they too continue to cater to illegals by assuring them that they are welcomed documented or not. That they don't have to learn or know the English langauge as they are supplied information in Spanish. And those who are not documented will be rewarded and have special priviledges to remain here (for breaking the law) - be them worker visas for the next six years or applications to become documented. That doesn't sit well with those who have applied and waiting in line already. It's not right and not fair either. Not to them and not to the people of this country.

The issue is that we think that as many of you as there have come across the border - 13 million plus - you all could have pulled together to overthrow your own corrupt government and demand better jobs and wages in your own country. Instead you run like cowards to this country and cry racists. When it's not about race at all. It's about the law. If you want to argue that everyone of us have broken a law in our country then you would more than likely be right. But we are also punished by our country for those offenses. Where illegals are put through the system, sent back across the border, only to return and break not only the border law again, but others as well.

As for the question and my answer - I'll tell you why I like and enjoy my Toyota. It's simple - it surpasses saftey standards when most American cars don't. The gas mileage I get from it far excedes what any American car has to offer to date. Most American cars need to be shot and put out of their misery after 100,000 miles. Mine will last well over 300,000 miles or more. When our government is serious about forcing or enforcing American companies to give Americans better gas mileage cars, (and not by or with hybrids, but by having the same standards or better that foreign cars have already), up there safety standards, and make them last longer than 100,000 miles, then I might consider another American Model. I'm not into flash or speed. I want something that suits me the way my Toyota does. That's all.

You realize that all of those companies make cars in the US? And no.. they're not better. All cars are essentially the same.
