Door etiquette should be whoever gets to a door first opens it for whoever comes after, and whoever has their hands free opens it for whoever is carrying loads of stuff, regardless of sex. This is so much more practical! I had a friend -not a bf, just a friend- who'd always rush past, even if he had his hands full, would then struggle with the door and end up half blocking it 'cause he was carrying so much. Never could get him to stop, it was very annoying. Doors aren't heavy or difficult to operate, let's *all* be polite to *each other* and not worry about the 'boy holding it for a girl' so much....
I might not date someone who was inconsiderate enough to let doors slam in my face but *I* wouldn't be inconsiderate enough to do that to *him* if I walked through the door first, either.

Personally, even though the thought is nice, the only way I would want someone to open my doors for me is if I had no arms to do it myself , and the doors were pull doors. In this day and age I say if your capable of doing it yourself then do it. On the other hand it is nice every once in awhile if both dating parties would do considerate things for each other even if it can't be done all the time. So yes I would date a guy who did not open doors for me,..lol.. as long as he doesn't HOLD THEM CLOSED on me or shut them on my face when he knows I am directly behind him. LOL then I would hold the door open for him so he can exit my life.

I don't like having doors opened for me because I hate stepping into a place first. I want someone else to go in before me. I like when a guy goes in first then politely keeps his hand on the door for a second so it doesn't slam in my face. I do that for other people anyway. It doesn't matter who opens the door first as long as they don't let it close on the person behind them.

Like standing and keeping the door open or letting the door slam in your face? There's a difference. The first one is not necessary but it's sweet. The second is downright rude and I don't even do that to strangers.

Yes, considering most guys don't do that anymore, especially after getting comfy in a relationship. I'm mainly talking about car doors and such because a lot of people hold doors for each other. I'm not complaining about it, though. It doesn't make a difference to me. I wouldn't think any less of a guy if he didn't.

I like it when guys do--it makes me notice that they're thoughtful--but I'd still date a guy who didn't. A lot of guys have been burned by girls who think it's anti-feminist, so I understand why they often don't open doors for girls.

I do. My BF sometimes opens the door for me and sometimes he doesn't...I don't mind though - I like it when he does do it because it is sweet and like a surprise....we have been together for 5 years now....if you want him to open doors for you - tell him, mention how nice it is....

Guys these days don't know what to do-some women like to have their doors open and others are offended by it. If you like it, let the guy know. And then decide if you want to date him based on his reaction.

Why wouldn't I? Seriously there is absolutely no rational and logical reason that just because someone has female anatomy you must open doors for her. That's ridiculous.
