"Does anyone believe that the Crucifixion was just another of Jesus' great illusions?"
No.It's a historical fact that Jesus was crucified.
"And that he might have survived the crucifixion"
That's medically impossible.
"For a good illusionist the water to wine thing would have been a cinch"
How so? It tasted like wine. You can't do that by illusion.
"And the thing with Lazarus could have easily been a set up."
No,it couldn't have.Lazarus had been dead, embalmed in his tomb for days before Jesus got to him.
"And so could have all his other illusions"
No,they were miracles.
"nd of course a lot of them was just hearsay."
They were recorded by eyewitnesses.

cOf course nobody knows for sure, but even though I'm an atheist, I believe a man named Jesus once walked the earth and impressed a lot of people, obviously. But in those days, a lot of gruesome things were done to people for punishment, Crucifixions being just one of them. So I believe he died a horrible death. And that was the end.
I bet Chris Angel or David Blaine could duplicate it, but would never do it because it would be in bad taste.

ok, i will chew. it is slightly like the OJ Simpson trial, which confirmed that in spite of huge quantities of info that factors to an glaring end, peoples minds may be instructed in direction of a end this is mindless in any respect, different than to fulfill what the jurors needed - this is, a thank you to discover OJ no longer in charge. right here, the author of the question seems to prefer to be able to assert that Christ became a god. The documents to help this finding are, in spite of if, particularly suspect, having been written after the time, been particularly edited, and having long surpassed via extra hands, languages and particularly inspired revisionists, and so on. and so on. than a fish at a Tokyo meat industry. So, to make those suspect documents extra palatable, the author seeks to impugn the documents of any and all historic figures, utilising Alexander the great because of the fact the occasion. it is an attempt to instruct an excellent via installation a adverse, and quite backfires via demonstrating the weak point of the unique place. replace: the author chastises me for implying the glaring; that she is arguing for Jesus being divine. She says that no the place does she advise that. in spite of if, the 2nd sentence of her very own question it appears that evidently states "crucifixion and resurrection of Christ is an historic actuality?”

I don't think many people deny the existence of Jesus. Clearly, the Jews agreed he should be crucified even after Pilate made an attempt to get him off the hook. It was all about the magical shiit his followers claim he was performing in the name of their god. You know, the walking on water thing was a bit much even for a good evangelist of that day. And to be a jew going around telling people that kinda shiit was more than the jewish priest could take. Obviously, he wasn't able to do any off his tricks before them and the only feedback they were getting was bullshiit. Thus, the trip to the crucifix.

I'm sure the Crucifixion was real. It was a popular way to get rid of criminals back in the day. Maybe he did survive it, or someone made up the fact that he died then rose again, or maybe he did. Who knows?

Possibly. I would sooner say that Jesus was speaking figuratively and by “death” the original christians meant spiritual death and by “resurrection” they meant spiritual awakening. The mainstream didn’t get it and took it all literally. I don’t think Jesus was crucified at all. Gnostic scriptures indicate that it was someone called “Simon” who was crucified, not Jesus. This would explain why some saw him after.

How could you get to the point of believing Jesus was hung on the cross only to draw the conclusion that he survived??? The bible says that he died. Period.
