Hello;
Listen to me ??
It's nearly midnight here and am I asleep?
You sound very stressed by this and that is very, very reasonable if you are going without sleep.
Irrespective of our individual sleep habits , it is recommended that we get 8 hours of sleep inorder to function optimally.
I read your profile and something jumps right out there........A creative writer that is perhaps, feeling like you would like to put your thoughts to paper faster than what you have been.
Well...Speaking of creativity: Thomas Edison was noted to sleep 1-2 hours a night. That does't mean that You are as tolerant of lack of sleep as T.E. was ..Nothing at all wrong or conterproductive with having fire in your belly and burning with that creative drive.....Likely, your body is telling you that you need to reach some moderation.
Form some reasonable goals that are compatible with your writing and the rest of your life. Feeling pressured, likely won't help your writing( I plan to read some).
Learning some relaxation techniques may serve you well...Taking yourself away to someplace that is serene and relaxing.
O.T.C. melatonin is inxpensiveand haslittle to no side effects; Hard core "Hypnotics"(sleeping pills) may alter your alertness and motivation too. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is also OTC but can make you feel dry or groggy. Warm milk and turkey(light meat) contain tryptophan that has a natural relaxing effect but I would try a combination of exercise and relaxation first : This may even enhance your writing ability.
Take Care...Creative people are renowned for being difficult and uncompromising.

When you lay down to sleep don't be stressed about not sleeping. Close your eyes and focus your attention on the blackness, nothingness. Still your mind, if a thought comes in, notice it, then go right back to blackness. Breath with your abdomen while lying on your back. Focus on you breathing. Say in your mind slowly, innnnnn.......ouuuuuuut. Do this for 10 minutes then shift your view of black to the color or the blue sky in your mind. If it helps, just pretend your on a desert Island sitting alone on the beach staring off into the blue ocean and sky. Even Imagine the waves, wind, smells, feels of this special place. With practice you will be very good at holding these thoughts. This worked for me. I hope it works for you. I now don't even have to try. My head hits the pillow and I'm out.

Other things. Cut out the caffeine, nicotine, sugar as much as possible especially the four hours before you intend to sleep. Get a massage. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water(example: if you weigh 100 pounds drink 50 oz's of distilled water every day) I really hope you sleep well.

I'm not sure of this is a chronic thing or not, but if it is, you should go to your local health food store and buy some Valerian extract and a Magnesium supplement called Calm. I have trouble sleeping and these ALWAYS knock me out...the good thing is that when you wake up, these supplements don't leave you with a hang-over like most sleeping meds! :D
For tonight, why don't you try turning on a fan (or two) and make it chilly in your room (if you can) and snuggle up under a few blankets. It's worth a try! :D Sweet dreams!

Take a nice warm shower then go directly into bed.

Or now I now this will sound odd but take out a math book or someother subject you hate and force yourself to solve some problems sit on your bed as you do this and unless you have a passion or joy for doing school work this is bound to work assign yourself a lot of hard problems you see it makes your brain think a lot therefore its going to get worn out eventually and want a break.

PS, GET OFF THE COMPUTER

I can tell you first hand that its so easy to stay awake while on your computer late at night so get off it right after reading this.

Try deep breathing, over and over. This will lower the heart rate making the body more relaxed. Also, open and shut the eyes quickly with the lights off while laying down. This will give your eyelids a workout making them tired and want to close. Also, try warm milk and honey, this relaxes brain cells, overall making the whole body relax. Try all these together to fall asleep fast. Sweet dreams.

I'd say try some over-the-counter sleeping pills for a while, like take one every other day. I had temporary insomnia for about three months straight until my dad realized it was a very serious problem. Or else you can try exercising for like an hour straight and drink milk. I hope you can get to sleep soon because insomnia is a very serious problem.

Try meditation. If you're mind can't at least you're body can.
Here's a simple exercise you can try.
When you lie down, Close you're eyes, Picture you're toes, Tell them (in you're mind) Sleep,Relax,Let go. Do this with you're feet next, Then work you're way through you're whole body doing this. You know one body part at a time..I.E...
Legs,Hips, groin, stomach,Lower back and so on.. toll you get to the top of you're head. You never know you may fall asleep doing this...I do all the time...
