I've officiated at a lot of weddings. First, unless you are different than most officiants, you don't have to memorize anything so all you are doing is reading. Easy! Relax and read clearly. Pause between thoughts. Most people tend to read too fast, which makes it hard for the audience to follow you.

But the main thing to remember is that it is not about YOU. It's about the people who are getting married. Focus on them and their love, and on making THEM comfortable. They are the ones who should be nervous - they're taking the leap of their lives! Put them at ease and share in the laughter and joy of the day.

You'll do fine. Best wishes!

Take the grace that these two people you are about to join have chosen you to perform the ceremony. You can be nervous all you want, but think about how the two getting married feel. Your only job is to marry them. They have the tougher job ahead, of staying together as a couple. Your job is going to last less then an hour. Theirs could last for the rest of their life. My suggestion? If you truly want to officiate and believe in this couples future, make them feel, that if they have any troubles, that may lie ahead, that they can confide in you. Let them both know you will not pass judgement and will always be there to listen. Heck, Im not sure how you got licensed to officate a marriage, since you lack detail. I will tell you that take it as an honor to be able to do so and take it serious. Mistakes from you can be made if
A: You pick your nose during the ceremony
B: You pass some loud flatulence during the ceremony
C: You have massive hiccups during the ceremony

Did you notice how I tried to add humor to comfort you. Those things won't happen as long as you maintain. Hiccups however, could occur, I highly doubt.

Do your thing and don't be nervous. You are doing the couple that are in love, a great duty for a brief moment. Take pride in yourself and your knowledge. Find your confidence and hang on to it, the rest of your life.

Please pray for me!

- that I get into college
- that my clinical depression finally comes to an end
- that my father finally stops lying and sleeping with his mistress
- that my sister stops believing my father's lies so that we can be reunited
- that my boyfriend and I can stay together through college
- that my anxiety will go away
- that my brother will stop feeling the need to replace my dad as the "man of the house", even though he's only 12

ok now I feel like one of those people who feeds on the pity of others... I swear I'm not doing that! Please... I just need prayers right now... this year has been really... stressful, for lack of a more powerful word...

Dear Heavenly Father, You are the God of peace. You are the God of power. You have poured our your grace upon us in ways that we can only begin to understand, and we thank you for it. Thank you that you have so graciously chosen us to be the objects of your affections. Thank you for loving us first.

In light of who you are, I pray that you would be with this minister tomorrow as he officiates his first wedding. Grant him a sense of peace and an attitude of dependence upon you. I pray that by your Spirit, his confidence in you would enable him to be calm and collected as he performs this ceremony tomorrow. I pray that he would be an agent of your grace to this couple whose wedding ceremony he is performing.

I ask all of these things in the precious and matchless Name of Jesus. Amen.

My brother has serious mental and substance addiction issues. He is a great emotional burden on my parents at the present time. Pray for psychological and spiritual healing for him and for strength and wisdom for my parents. His name is Ryan.

Thank you.

No need for nervousness. The Lord will guide your words and steps one by one tomorrow. Pray that he will steer and oversee all your thoughts in the direction of pure peace and love. Keep love in your heart and mind for the couple, and then do your thing!

Yes, for 26 years now, I and my husband pray together before we sleep to thank God's wondrous grace to my family.

Through thick and thin, we were able to raise 3 God- fearing, emotionally matured young people, two of whom has just passed the CPA licensure examinations with flying colors.

How lucky are you to solemnize marriage. That's a rare God-given authority to His people. Godspeed!

I'll pray for you. :) But you'll do just fine! Remember to enjoy it. The bride & groom will probably be more nervous than you anyway, so they'll never notice your nervousness.

I'd appreciate your prayers for my dad (...cancer.)
