The dollar store is your friend. LOL

Looking around the room, all of these things are in/on or around my birds cages:

A child's feather boa, cut in sections so that every bird can have a piece weaved through the bars of their cage. Awesome for preening.

Empty Papertowel rolls

A phone book drilled and tied to the inside of the cage. They LOVE to shred this.

6 straws together with a straw tied around them to hold them together

A tennis ball I drilled that I shoved several strands of cotton rope through and knotted.

rope dog toys

A wood piece that I drilled and shoved pieces of untanned/untreated leather strips through,

A pinata that I put nuts and treats in and hung in a cage.

Fisher price toys made for toddlers that I put on choker chains and c-hooked to the inside of the cage

Little green army men that I used sisal rope to tie into a bunch of hanging little green army men hanging from the inside of the cage (my amazon loves to chew their heads off and then drown them in his water dish.)

That's not all the stuff by far...but there's a good list!

You can go on ebay like I did and order some of those bamboo thumb cuffs. Although thats not what they are called in the bird toy sections. Anything wicker works too. My birds love chewing on baskets with millet spray in them.

I would recommend cuttlebone, calcium block, the rope toy where they shred it into stuff that looks like spaghetti.

You could also get apple or pear branches to use as extra perches. Those woods are safe for birds to chew on IF you get them from trees that have not been sprayed.

cuttle fish bone, they are soft and the birds love them, when i had a bird i would go to the beach and pick one up, otherwise i think they are starting to sell them in the shop. Milk thistles are good too, birds go crazy over those weeds.

You don't want to give your bird something too unnatural.
