Definitely get a grabber so that you can reach things easier. Get a chair cushion, use chairs with arms, a commode, a walker and a cane. Place things in your house so that you do not have to bend to reach them. Shower chairs or hand held showers are good too.

These are all questions that must be asked of your doctor. Only your doctor will know exactly how long you will be off of your feet and exactly what you will need. Everyone I have known who has had back surgery has needed different things after thier surgery, so I don't want to give you any advice. I've had about 16 surgeries, none on my back, but I've needed something different for recuparation after each. I don't want to tell you the wrong thing. Some people need to stand a lot after back surgery, some need to lie down a lot of the time. So speak to the doctor and get all the information, that's what he is there for. This coming from a pro at operations, I go in soon too, but mine's for my hand. So, good luck to both of us.

Your doctor should discuss this with you, as there are many types of back surgery and no one on Yahoo Answers will know how to answer your question. I am sure you will need some sort of medical assistance devices.

You'll get an idea in the hospital what you will need. The hospitals have people that will find equipment you need don't worry they know what to do. Good luck on your surgery
