People everyday claim that god healed their moms cancer, or other such ailments. why won't he heal amputees?

so what you guys are saying is that god will answer the lady that prays for god to heal her cancer that she got from smoking for 20 years. but he won't answer the prayers of an amputee that lost his lag when he was hit by a car. that sound sort of sadistic.

Imaginary things can't cure real conditions.

So you read Harris too. That is a rational question. Of course, most answers are that "God can do what God wants," "God heals them in other ways," "then everyone would know God existed," etc., etc. All talking around the point. If God can do whatever God wants, and if God is a good God, why then let so many people suffer? This is a question that theodicy has not yet adequately answered. The only reasonable answers are either: 1. God does not exist 2. God does not care 3. God enjoys watching sentient creatures suffer 4. God is not perfect or all powerful and is evolving along with the rest of an imperfect universe.

My take is that God does not heal amputees and other persons who suffer (not to say that all amputees suffer) because God cannot.

Also, on the point that if God healed an amputee, then everyone would know that God existed....have you ever read John's Gospel. People saw a dead man raised to life and didn't believe. Not a good argument.

Also, I hope not to have offended the post above me, written by an amputee. Your outlook on life and faith is inspiring. I'm just calling this one the way I see it though.

Well I guess he could. That would be a wonderful show of proof to the no-believers! But I would suppose the media and all the attention given to the amputee with the regrown limb would be just to much. There would be some who even if given proof that this person had a leg or arm missing and now there was one, would disbelieve. Others instead of giving God the credit would call it magic or witchcraft. It could be a three ring circus. The amputees are made whole in another way.

Just as you can not prove there is no God, you can not prove that God has never healed an amputee. We are not told about each and every miracle that Jesus (who was God in the flesh) performed here on Earth. We have only our human logic, God has His. He might just be limiting His show of supernatural so that those who believe in Him will do so more out of faith than proof. If you don't believe in God now, if an amputee was healed in front of your eyes, likely you would still find an excuse to deny God's existence.

The healing process doesn't always meaning restoring something to its previous form. An amputee is only not healed by our standards, not God's. We are the ones who see the flaw and interpret it as God's failure. Maybe there are more important accomplishments God has in store for an amputee than to return a body part.

God knows what is best. If what is best is for the person to have a missing limb then God has a reason for it. Most amputees do not die. A lot of people that have cancer do.

Why do you ask the same questions over and over. God has healed many amputees. Maybe not to your satisfaction but to his. He is God and we will all be made whole when we meet him in the air.

Everything happens for a reason. It may be hard at the time that it happens, but God has a plan.

Romans 8:28
And we know that "in all things" God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

im an atheist but, couldn't the religious nut just say god doesn't always answer yes?

are you now going to cut and paste the bible verses from god is imaginary dot com here on yahoo answers,

just curious, before you do, will you read them and the verses that surrond them?

also, will you read the religious people when they actually explain to you in their believe system why those bible verses don't go together and maybe talk to some atheists or agnostics who will explain why its not some "contradiction"

Asking others why God does or does not do something? Hmmmmm, something tells me all you will ever get from anyone on this planet concerning God's actions is bullshiit.

He did heal them...they still have life...maybe they face new challenges, but that is life. I know a federal police officer with THREE artificial limbs, has a family and is a great golf player...live life to the fullest...
