The most ridiculous one I hear is that Atheists have no morals and are hedonists.
The most accurate one is that they are intelligent and funny.

This one is so [explitive] simple. I see it time and time again on Y!A R&S. So many people thing that religion is a prerequisite for good morals. I tell you, this kind of ignorance is quite appaling! I can only hope that we can at least grow past this naïveté!
Hmmm, the most accurate. Wow, this is a tough one. Among Atheists, we all are interested in what everyone else has to say. So I'm going to have to guess that the best stereotype of Atheists is that they love education.

Well, from what I have read and heard, people think atheists are wild. Without god, they believe we must be out there partying, drinking, and having sex with different people all the time. If this was accurate, then I am doing something wrong.
I don't know about most accurate, as atheism is a common lack of belief, it is only one thing that we as atheists have in common. Other than that, we are al different people. Overall, I probably have more in common with christians here in Texas than I do with atheist in, say, New York City. Atheism is only one part of who I am.

I think the most ridiculous stereotype (although it is perpetuated by the atheists here sometimes) is that they sit around and have anti-Christianity meetings and discuss how much they don't believe in the Bible.
I think the most accurate is that of the logical, thoughtful intellectual.
P.S. I'm not an atheist.

Amoral is the most ridiculous stereotype. Or the stereotype that every atheist is secretly searching for God.
Or "There are no atheists in a foxhole" is what always makes me laugh. I actually did some research on that. Close to where I lived, in Holland, there is a little town called Foxhol. It has about 1,600 inhabitants and no churches. The actual truth is: There are no Christians in Foxhol.
There is no accurate stereotype. We are all humans with all our differences.

My understanding of the word stereotype is that it's a negative image that is applied to everyone in a group. Is there such a thing as an accurate stereotype? The Athiests around me project as many images as there are people to project them, I don't think I can apply a one size fits all image to them.
I looked up the definition, and this is what I found...
A too-simple and therefore distorted image of a group, such as “Football players are stupid” or “The English are cold and unfriendly people.”\
A generalization, usually exaggerated or oversimplified and often offensive, that is used to describe or distinguish a group.
Both examples come from American Heritage Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, different editions.

Most ridiculous: Atheists are all boring, cold-hearted intellectuals with no sense of humor. Just look at the atheist sites online and you'll find plenty of humor!
Most accurate: Atheists don't accept anything without evidence.

The worst is that theists think that atheists are somehow based on a "faith" that there is no god. Faith is not a part of the atheist stance. I don't need faith to know that evolution is a FACT. I don't need faith to know that religion is a man made concept used for the controll of other humans. Faith in it'self is the lack of knowing, the absence of fact. I don't need faith to know that I am looking at a monitor at this very moment. If i were to believe that there were a christian god or any god for that matter I would require "faith" becouse I would not be able to pin point him and to satisfy my lack of knowing I would have to reject fact and embrace a "faith" and rationalise my lack of knowing by throwing a "sacred" book at it that would be unacceptable in society to ridicule or question.

I don't believe there IS an atheist stereotype. You surely could
not pick one out in a crowd. An atheist simply believes there
IS NO GOD, or no governing diety in charge of this earth and
its people.

Can a former atheist answer? ;-)
The most ridiculous: That atheists are ravening animals who, lacking any moral compass whatsoever (because of course morals can only come from GOD), wander the countryside performing random acts of evil.
The most accurate: That atheists are fiercely independent free-thinkers who usually aren't inclined to take anything at face value.
