im so incredibly tired that i sleep though some classes and my body seems to just hurt all over. i often find myself snapping at ppl for stupid things. My work at schoool is kind of falling behing and sometimes (for NO reason what so ever) i feel like i could cry but i dont. My family has kind of gone through alot in the recent past but its been a while since...well since anything has happend. I thought it might be depression but i didnt think that could happen to someone as happy as me. im a fairly popular and really athletic 14 year old girl. does anyone know if there could be something really wrong with me or is this just being 14 years old?

Sounds like you could be depressed, it can happen to anyone in any walk of life. Not being diagnosed could lead to major problems later in life and may only get worse. So, lease talk to your parents or teacher or counselor and have yourself evaluated by a therapist, it may be the best choice you've ever made. If your not depressed, then no harm done and it may just help to talk to someone professional.

I am not sure exactly what you family may have been going through in the recent past, but it has obviously affected you in some way. Sometimes we do not truly realize how these things affect us until after all the turmoil has settled down. Once things have settled down we have more time to think about and analyze the things we have been through. If it is a loss that you experienced recently perhaps you are experiencing a normal depression/anger that is part of the grief process and it is just now really catching up with you. If you have been holding on to a lot of tension mentally this can affect your body physically and make your muscles ache and make you feel tired and snappy. This roller coaster of emotions you are feeling very likely has something to do with what you experienced in the recent past.
What is the solution? Get some extra rest. Talk to God. Tell your family how you are feeling if they will listen or tell your best friend. Maybe your school counselor can help too. Take care of yourself-there are many more roller coasters up ahead. Smile!

I would look at your eating habits first. Go natural. Drink tons of water. But not too much all at once. Drink green tea. For breakfast, especially before school, have fruit. A banana is the best. Cut out the soda. no joke. Coke is like acid to your insides. Start an exercise routine. But change it daily. Jog one day, dance to your stereo the next, etc. get a little wild, the music when you are alone. just let yourself go. Be grateful for all that has and is happening in your life. Good or bad. accept that you are who you are. Relax, deep breath, and just be. I wish, at 14, someone told me this. I had it really bad. I am now 49. been through alot. The kind of stuff you see in the movies. You don't need to go through that stuff. You are very vulnerable right now. Just be true to yourself. Do not let a dominating personality in a boyfriend, or a girlfriend, overtake your life. If someone takes you over, or tries to rule your world, walk away. Only you, god, and your parents should do that. The moment a relationship gets negative, get out. You will have so many more relationships with people, just learn from them and be grateful for what they have taught you. Good luck

just because you seem to have everything anyone could ever want doesn't mean you couldn't be depressed. sometimes it's just a mood swing from puberty or hormone levels going up and down, other thimes it could be a chemical embalance in the brain. so you may want to have you mom make a dr. apt. or tell her how you're feeling first if you're close enough with her. either way seek help from some where and you should be just fine. remeber though. if they make you take some kind of perscription..... 2 things.
1.) if it doesn't seem to be helping go in for a reevaluation, they may have misdiagnosed you. you don't want to take something that's not treating the symptoms.
2.) don't feel bad for having to take something. diabetic have to take insolin so they don't get sick, elderly need to take high blood pressure med's to keep their bodies right. if you have to take med to keep you acting and feeling more yourself, don't be ashamed or angry. when i was in school my parents put me on ritaline, for ADD, i was hyper and couldn't focus in school. i was angry tinking they were trying to change who i was. but they were only trying to help. the ritaline actually really didn't help but i was very closed minded and wasn't willing enough to go back to the doctor and find something else that would. so my grades paid the price. good luck hun. let me know how it goes.

If you're not sleeping well and your body hurts all over maybe you just need a new matress. You might be depressed, depression doesn't discriminate, but I would try a new matress before lots of expensive drugs which may do more harm then good. You could be going through a hormonal thing, you're fourteen after all. Try to cheer up and get more sleep, maybe you're just cranky.

First have some blood work done, you could be anemic or have a low thyroid condition (hypothyroidism). You say you are athletic but not enough info here to tell if you are getting a good night's sleep and eating well. More often than not, there is a physical reason for this rather than a mental one....

You may not be getting enough sleep and rest. Be sure you are getting a healthful diet as well. If this continues, talk to your parents. Yes, young people do get depressed. This is a chemical thing that some people have to deal with, but medication does work. Good luck.

It is important to see a doctor first, to find out if the cause is physical, otherwise, take a week off sport, and take up Tai Chi & yoga, or practice meditation, for 20 mins daily, and when needed, at http://www.selfhelpmagazine.com Meditation room; try it out; mantra meditation; repeat the word: "easy", or gaze at a burning candle in a quiet, darkened room. It would help to cut back on the sport a little.

I hope you have told your mom about these problems and you definetely need to see your dr. for a physical. It can be depression or something more serious. Make sure your doctor does a complete blood profile on you and check you white blood count, it shouldn't be over 10,000. I had your same symptoms but I'm 51 now but last Feb. during my physical I found out I had leukemia. I don't want to scare you but 1 can never be too caucious.

It might be depression. It sounds like it is to me. You said that you don't think someone as happy as you could be depressed, but if you're happy then why do you have mood swings? My suggestion is go see a doctor. Because if you don't you might end up feeling worse then you do now. I hope you feel better. Take care!
