It's reinforced my belief that people who follow religious dogmas cling to simplistic little statements instead of thinking things through.

To be very honest there are several items that spending time in R&S has taught me.
1] There are a lot of people that belittle others. I think on the whole this applies to those that either ask or answer questions in the relm of evolution. Answers such as: Only Christians and the brainless would fall for such c**p.
2] There is much more sacrelige than I ever imagined. This was a actual question several weeks ago. "When Jesus was on the cross and he had jock itch, what would he do?"
3] There is a lack of Privacy. What I mean by this is that Somebody will ask a sincere question of a specific group.
Such as: "Muslims, A muslim in our office died today what proceedures should I follow to show respect."
Part way down the answers is this: Let him rot. He's probably a terrorist anyway
There are many times I wish I could answer another answer.
Maybe others do not see how the practice of dignity or the lack of the practice of dignity affects us all.
Has it made me more or less sceptical of religion. Neither. Much more sceptical of others

My level of scepticism concerning religion is about the same, but I have become positively cynical about the state of education.

Skeptical, I guess. I have been a Christian for over 50 years, and I am a retired Baptist (substitute) Preacher. Until I joined this chat group, I was not aware that anyone actually worshipped Jesus. Wow, to do so is against what Jesus instructed us in regards to how to think of him. Also, I am shocked of the people who quote Paul or Peter instead of Jesus; in regards to their salvation. They say they believe in Jesus, yet they never seem to follow Jesus' instructions. To believe in someone is to not just believe they exist, it is to believe and follow their instructions. -- smiles
I am very worried that these new Church Christians are a danger to our society and certainly a threat to our selection of a President or congressman; based on religion rather than intelligence; a la George Bush.

Skeptical of Religion and Faith, no. Skeptical of the present majority religions, yes.
Many of out present religions have gone from belief, to faith, to a herd obsession instinct. They have taken up a paraphrase, I am right, because I am right. because my holy Book is right, because it says it's right, therefore I am right.
This closed circle of the illogical is a situation that causes death and destruction every day.

I grew up in a non-religious household, so I do not have concrete views like a lot of the people here. Visiting here has actually hurt what little religious views I have. It was really upsetting to me to read the posts and replies concerning female inferiority to men..........

I found the truth and the truth set me free many years ago. If anything this has made me more aware to pray for all people and to love them with the compassion that Jesus loved us with. We all need prayer! God bless you!

Pretty much the same. I was a skeptic before I came here, I'm still a skeptic, and I'm still a Christian.
