Store bought french fries are cooked untill about halfway done then quickly frozen. They are perfectly healthy and good cooked in the microwave or regular oven. Try doing a few to get the right amount of time needed to be the way you want them to be. Cooked in the microwave or oven you don't have added grease so they are better for you. How long you microwave them depends on how well you like them cooked. I always place them on paper towels before I microwave them that way any grease will be absorbed.

All french fries are blanched either in water or some type of oil.If they where not precooked part way they would be black on the outside and stay raw in the middle when you cooked them. So look on the label and make sure they are water blanched and then bake them to done

Actually they're first blanched in oil and then they're frozen. If you were too scratch make fries at home you would use basically the same process.Blanch at 325 until almost cooked but stll white, drain & allow too cool. Meanwhile turn up the temp to 375 cook in small batches until brown -salt & eat

Some are partially cooked - like Tater Tots. Those can be sprayed with Pam or a cooking spray and cooked on a cookie sheet with pretty acceptable results. Salt before cooking while the spray is wet or the salt won't stick. Stir them a few times while cooking. It's still starch and carbs but not soaked in oil anyway.

it depends on the brand. We have hy-vee brand frozen fries and it says on the bag that they are deep fried originally. so yes, it would be a more healthy choice to bake them in the oven.

They are only partially cooked as a general rule and depend on you cooking them the rest of the way. Baking is a fine alternative to frying...and a lot less caloric!
