I have a problem with my calves, every time I swim fast or I play basketball, my calves cramp up, even when I stretch I still get them, and most recently i got the worst cramp from swimming yesterday and it's still cramped up, I'm wondering how do I stretch it out and find a way so they wont cramp up anymore, it happens almost every time, and it happens with both of my calves. Thanks!

well tell your doctor about it.. could be serious
but a stretch to do now is find a stair or ledge.. and hang your heels off the end with the ball of your foot on the stair.. let it hang and you'll feel the stretch in your claves

Stand on a stair so that you are facing the stairs. Put the balls of your feet and your toes on the stair so that basically the back half of your foot is hanging over . Go up, then down on the balls of your feet without changing stairs. You are actually going nowhere but you are stretching up and down just the same as you would if you were trying to make yourself taller. When you go up on tippey-toe you are contracting your calves, when you let your body weight go down and your toes are still on the stairs, you will be stretching your calves.

Make sure you drink before and during play. Dehydration is a cause for cramps. Also get some extra potassium in your diet. Bananas are good. You are not cramping because you dont stretch enough.

My favorite calf stretch is to find some stairs with a handrail.
(I hope I can explain this good.)
Stand so you are facing going up the stairs. Stand with just your toes on the edge of one of the stairs, then slowly let your heels drop down. You should feel the stretch along the back of your legs.

Be certain to get plenty of Potassium. Also make sure you are thoroughly hydrated. Drink about 4 to 6 16 ounce bottles of water. This should help.

keeping the knees straight, use a towel or similar cloth over the forefoot. hold the ends of the towel in both hands and pull towards you. there will be mild pain for a few seconds, but you will be better immediately.
