For whatever reason, christians don't see the problem with circular logic. It comes from being told not to question it from a very early age. It's as though their critical thinking skills never developed.

Do you really believe that all Christians are so ignorant as to just accept the Bible on blind faith? I know you can't understand this concept, but when a person accepts Christ, He comes to live in them. There is a phenomena that happens called "the Spirit bearing witness" to a believer. It's when the Holy Spirit confirms things about Scripture or a prayer (or whatever) to a believer. It's like a spiritual conversation, if you will. Also, the Bible is not the only historical record of Jesus, or multitudes of other things, that are contained in it. Evidence continues to come out that confirms that the Bible is accurate. True, faith is required concerning many things, but much can be proven.

A couple of points:
If a man were to set out to write a book that he wanted everyone to think was fact, would he have written it the way the Bible is written?
I would say no!
The Bible is kind of a disjointed collection of stories. It is hard to read, and hard to understand.
It has spawned hundreds of different religions.
The Bible doesn't show it's many prophets and kings as being flawless people. In fact it goes to great lengths to show the good and the bad aspects of it's characters.
The only person that it shows as flawless of course is Jesus Christ.
The things that many people try to use to discredit the Bible are things,in my judgement, that tend to prove that it is true.
Those who don't accept that will never believe the Bible no matter what anyone tells them.
Many religions have incorrectly interpreted the Bible and have turned the beauty of the message into a sort of fire and brimestone message of fear to try and keep their members in line.
But the hidden secret of the Bible is this:
The truth can set you free.

More people believe and study the Bible than any other book in history. It has been dissected, analyzed, probe, compared and anything else you can think of for hundreds of years. No one yet has proved any part of it wrong-though many have tried. Now millions do not believe it-thats okay. But that does not make it not right.

It is the power of God, those who are being saved, it is by hearing the word of God--as Romans 10:17 says, and it is true! It is only by the work of God that we believe, and that He reveals His truth to us through His holy spirit when we read the Bible.
I paste this verse A LOT--because there of course is so much truth to it! It proves true!
1 Corinthians 1:18
[ Christ the Wisdom and Power of God ] For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

You have to understand Nairbgnik, that most... or at least a sizable % of the people that believe the bible, once did not believe it, once thought it as ridiculous as you do now, once knocked those who believe the bible, once thought that evolution had the obvious, thoughtful answers. Christians are people just like other people; people just like you.
So how did we possibly start believing the bible? How surprised I was when this happened to me. As strange as it sounds, it is something God does, and it usually happens immediately. One moment the bible is ridiculous nonsense, the next minute it is living truth that you can't get enough of, like living water to the inner heart. This happens when the Spirit of God regenerates a person. Only God can do this. And he will do it for anyone who seeks him.

People who want to bad enough, can delude themselves into believing anything. I CANNOT believe all these deluded souls that say the Bible has no contradictions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want one small example out of countless examples, just read the two accounts of Genesis. They contradict each other. Not to mention not showing a grade schooler's knowledge of science. I've:
Read it many times; studied it from literary, historical, and theological perspectives; gained insights into human behavior; came to know Christ as my Savior through its message; loved its stories of God's goodness and mercy; and found it to be a solid foundation for living my life with purpose and in peace.
So that's how I can possibly believe the Bible.

a lot of people feel the need to comfort themselves because they need a reason to live, they need to believe that there is life after death, and that there is a reason we were created. also they needed some kind of structure and morals in life. so thus christianity was born. also people who spoke english made up that word, i think christians forget sometimes that the king james bibles was translated from another language. i'd love to see a christian who reads the original text of a bible but they are to lazy to learn a different language...yet thier so called bible origniated from a different language...

Consider the sorts of stuff people are willing to believe.
I know people who really believe there was once a big bang and life evolved spontaneously. No one can prove it.
I know people who really believe they can receive grace from God through sacraments. It is unscriptural.
I know people who think that there is no hell. No one can prove otherwise.
I know people who really believe the disciples stole the body of Jesus Christ, even though the tomb was guarded by soldiers of the occupying army, and the "thieves" unwrapped the body, stole the corpse, and rewound the grave clothes.
Yet I have a book written by several different authors, on different continents, over a period of some 1500 years, and without any provable errors or contradictions. My book shamelessly makes over a hundred prophecies on the life of one man hundreds of years before he was born, and hits 100% accuracy. We are talking odds in the order of one chance in 10 to the 157th power of it being right by chance.
You tell me if I'm a fool to believe this book.

IF it were indeed the word of god it wouldn't be erroneous as god would have known better. Since the verbiage is limited to superstition and misapprehension of cosmology it is a writing by men as if it were the word of god or inspired by god there would be no errors and the men would not have been constrained by their lack of knowledge of the cosmos as god being omnipotent would have told them the truth no?
addendum How can someone who has read it and seen the irreconcilable conflicts and errors say otherwise. My only explanation for those who find it flawless is they are brainwashed. It is replete with factual, scientific, historical, errors and conflicts with itself. Someone just threw Satan in the mix and says god says so so its true. Then god is not omnipotent since the bible is wrong about the creation of the world, the universe, basic physics, and Satan has more powers than god following this addled logic since Satan does a better job of manifesting "his" existence.
Mel Go to the Hubble website and learn about the cosmos outside of your ancient book of myths. You will see proof of the big bang, see stars dying and stars being born as well as events that happened billions of years ago visible now. If earth was created as in Genesis, it would be the oldest thing in the universe, note earth is not and you will see proof there if you look into post medieval science.
