There isn't. It just seems so because the evangelicals get lots of press.

Religion has MUCH less impact on our daily lives in the US than it did 100 years ago. 100 years ago it would have been almost impossible to order meat at a restaurant on a Friday in most cities. FAR more people regularly went to church then. FAR more people believed in the literal truth of the Bible than do now.

It's just that we notice the crazies who do these days much more that we get the illusion that there's more religious "activity" now.

Attending a church doesn't make you a Christian.

Here's a good example to prove that society is more secular.

Ask a friend the question, Are you a good person? How many of the Ten Commandments have you broken in your lifetime?

A hundred years ago, people who have answered, "well, I've never murdered, or stolen, or committed adultery and I try not to lie."

Fifty years ago people would have answered, "well, I've never murdered, or cheated on my spouse and I try to follow the rest."

Today people will answer, "well at least I've never murdered anyone!!"

How can you prove this? Statistically within the past 20 years, less and less people consider themselves religious. @0 years ago the US population was comprised of 86% religious now its like 77%. The stats prove you wrong.

No. You just hear about it more now. So much revolved around religion 100 years ago, and so no one ever mentioned it, because it was so common.
