Or is it a really small thing and I should be doing much more?

Also when I'm doing sit ups when i get to like number 20 or so, my back will start hurting to the point where it hurts, bad. What can I do to solve this?

It will definitely build muscle and will help you lose weight in the way that your metabolism will speed up a bit, but you might not notice the weightloss on a scale because muscle weighs more than fat. You'll eventually be able to see the difference for sure though.

That sounds kind of hard. But it will help with muscle a lot more than weight. If you want to lose weight, then do something that gets your heart pumping. Running (No jogging! Run!) or jump roping is good

my brother did 50 in the morning, and 50 before bed and also watched what he ate.. and the pounds came pouring off of him.

Well it's better than nothing... but you could do a lot more. Try any kind of aerobic activity, especially if it uses your legs.
