A tetanus shot is good for 10 years. I had one in 1996 when I stepped on a rusty nail. I cut myself last year on a rusty piece of metal when I was in my garden, and I had to have another shot.

properly, the explanation that folk get tetanus photos after stepping on rusty nails is by way of the fact they reason puncture wounds, which p.c. up on the outdoors and bypass away an area interior that air can no longer get to. Anaerobic(with out air) micro organism grows in this area and motives tetanus. The micro organism that motives tetanus is definitely in dirt, no longer in rust, human beings purely anticipate that that is grimy if that is rusty. you will get tetanus from any puncture wound that gets dirt into it. It has no longer something to do with metallic. i'm no longer able to tell from the image what the wound feels like, so i do no longer comprehend if it quite is a puncture or a scrape. If it quite is a scrape, purely wash it out quite good. If it quite is a puncture (the wound is going down a procedures), you like a tetanus shot.

get a tetanus shot , but first wash the wound with sterile water or you can use a wound cleaner wrap the foot with a 4x4 bandage and get her to the hospital asap depending on what time she stepped on the metal you have 12 hours before tendinitis (lock-jaw) sets in

Yes she will need a shot if she hasn't had one in the last ten years. And she should soak that foot right away in warm water with epson salts to stop any infection from starting and continue to do it three times daily until better.

If she can clearly remember that she has had one within the last 5 years, then no.
If she is not sure (and most of us can't really be sure and remember correctly without looking at our records), then the answer is yes.
It is best for her to call her health care provider's office and ask them to check her record and advise her.

if you have not had one in the Last seven years, it would be a really good idea to get one and you ahould make sure that you clean it out really well because you don't want infection in your foot. because that could lead to blood poisoning.
