this morning i had toe surgery. they told me the numbness would go away in a couple of hours and it would become pretty painful.
i've been elevating all day and i've take the pain killers.
its been 13 hours since the surgery and the numbness is still there and i have no pain whatsoever.
is this normal? is it because i've been elevating and doing the pain killers?
or should i call the dr. tomorrow.
i kind of hope the pain starts because i'm worried there is nerve damage or something.

I'm note sure if this is normal. Call the doctor now, if you have nerve damage the longer you wait the worse it gets. In the future your doctor is the first person you should contact about this not a bunch of people on the internet who haven't seen you and most of who don't know what they are talking about.

It is numb because of the local anaesthetic that was injected into it, like marcaine or lidocaine. It can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days for that to wear off. When it does you will start to feel more pain. What you are feeling is totally normal.

It wouldn't hurt to call your doctor to inform him of the prolonged numbness. Then at least you would get an answer . you could just have some nerves that are having trouble with the anesthetic
