No. That is an urban legend. We all have cancer inside of us, it is just a matter of whether or not one has a strong enough immune system to keep the cancer cells from taking over. Be healthy and know what you're putting in your body because it will catch up with you if you're not careful.

You may be too young to remember this, but the same thing used to be said of sitting too close to a color television set.
It's also been claimed that cell phone use can cause brain cancer.
There are so many arguments pro and con on all of these topics that it's very difficult to know what's what. I guess the safest thing to do is be reasonably careful in all things-------maintain the healthiest diet and general lifestyle that you can
and seek medical advice if you think something isn't right.
BTW, when you warm the baby's bottle, I think it's advised to put it in container of water that you heat in microwave. Has anyone else heard this? In any case, you should definitely shake it well before giving to baby, to make sure the temperature is uniform (as another respondant mentioned).

A frequently asked question. I am posting my previous reply:
There is certainly alot of debate about this topic. I will give my opinion from a purely physics point of view.
Cancer is initiated from mutations in the DNA. This can occur when radiation of high enough energy strikes an atom in the DNA and changes its chemical structure.
High energy radiation is associated with shorter wavelengths such as gamma rays and ultraviolet light.
Microwaves are on the other end of the spectrum. They have a long wavelength. BTW, microwaves have less energy than visible light which is part of the EMF spectrum too.
http://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/science/know_l1/emspectrum.html
So, it would seem that microwaves are a safer form of radiation because they would seem not to have enough energy to mutate cells.

It is true, but it isn't leathal if you just stand there watching the seconds count down. It can be fatal if you use the microwave with the door open, because the door reflects most of the radiation waves back into the microwave. That is why the lable on the door says "Do Not operate this microwave with the door open". Don't try any thing stupid. lol

No this is not true. You do need to be careful as it is not recommended to warm up a baby's bottle in the micro as it can have hot spots that you can't see or feel and the formula could be to hot in places for your baby.

No - the radiation does not cause cancer; but, microwaving heats unevenly - be sure shake it gently and to check temp before giving it to the baby.

No of course not !! Like every thing in life moderation!!
If you were stood in front of a working microwave all day well then yes maybe you would be at risk but also if all you ate were carrotts then you would be at risk so think about it ,small doses of everything and you will be ok!!( I think)
