The BEST way is cold turkey but I tried cold turkey (lasted 4 months), gum (made my throat itch and gave me indigestion) the patches (allergic to the glue and I still smoked with them on) and hypnotism ( lasted 1 week) and then I used Commit and I have been smoke free for 19 mos now and I do not want another cigarette. So, from experience I would same Commit lozenges. Good luck....(I had smokes for over 30 years.)

1. Try those Nicorette gum packets
2. Put five bucks in a jar for every day you havent smoked. Then at the end of a consecutive week, treat yourself to dinner or something. But you have to be honest here. If you smoke on lets say Wednesday, you cannot take the money at the end of the week. You have to wait till seven consecutive days to use the money.
3. my friend stopped smoking because his girlfriend didn't like it and refused to have sex with him until he quit lol. I think that was a pretty good motivation.
4. Suck on jolly ranchers every time you feel like smoking.
5. Hang out with people who don't smoke.

This may sound silly , but it works.. When or if a person goes to jail or they get admitted to a hospital, Is IMHO how it would work best..
I;ve tried everything on the market ,nothing really sems to work, If only they had something say in pill form, with enuff nicotene inserted that you wouldn't/couldn't ever have the craving..
Remember this nioctene is a very addictive,so just doing it cold turkey may cause some helth issues, doing it through say the patch, works for some, but I found i could still smoke ,there wasn't enuff to satisfy the cravings..
All the best ..

Cold turkey. But you need to replace smoking with another outlet in your life be it a hobby or a new non-smoking friends.
Learning a new sport is a good way. Or just setting personal fitness goals is another.
For me, I met my wife who hated smoking so I quit and I haven't looked back since.

The only sure way to quit smoking, is to truly want to. It will be hard, and not just for the next few days, but for years. My grandpa quit smoking over 20 years ago, and he still reaches for his shirt pocket where he kept them. If you are wanting to quite, the only thing that worked for me was to just quit. Cutting back or switching to lighter smokes is just an excuse to keep smoking. You have to REALLY want to. And another thing that works great, is to think of someone who means the world to you, and do it for them, you don't even have to tell them. But do it for them!
