seeing as an egg equals a chick, would it be like in humans or do hens just keep producing after they have layed their 1st egg.e.g.like cows keep producing milk once they have given birth.

Chickens produce eggs every day . It does not mean they are "pregnant" every day . The chicken produces an unfertilised egg the same way a human female produces an egg every month it just does not appear the same way.

The egg needs the cockerel to fertilise the egg . So unless the chicken mates with a cockerel it will continue to produce unfertilised eggs which are the ones you dip you toast into every day. If it was a fertilised egg it would have a chick in it.

When a chicken lays eggs everyday no it does not mean they get pregnant every day. A human woman produces an egg every month but is not pregnant every month.
I would take a rooster for the hen to get pregnant. If they breed it is very possible that her eggs will be fertilized but not every time.

Hens go through spells where they do not lay eggs. Sometimes special feed will help they produce the eggs.

No, an egg doesn't equal a chick. An egg is an unfertilised egg. The hen ovulates every day. She won't even bother sitting the eggs if theres no male around.

Eggs only stand a chance of becoming chicks when they're fertilised. They mate, the female holds the sperm for a while and uses it to fertilise a batch of eggs over a few days. She then has to sit on the clutch to hatch them.

Chickens produce eggs every day but they only turn into chicks if the egg is fertilized by the male bird. Otherwise the eggs are infertile and end up next to my bacon in the morning

A human female ovulates every 28 days (egg production) and that does not make her pregnant every 28 days.
A chicken usually lays an egg a day but the time required to hatch that egg is 21 days. (Technically when the hen sits on the eggs to hatch them, then she is pregnant).

Only eggs that have been fertilised can develop into chicks. The eggs we buy from the supermarket are obviously the many unfertilised eggs that hen's lay. I suppose chickens have to get rid of their unfertilised eggs the same way as humans do..just more regularly!

no. only if you have a roster and if the roster likes the hen then it does something called fertilizing the egg. you see if the egg is not fertilize than its just a plain egg you can eat if its fertilized then put it under a lite and turn it every day every 3 or 4 hours or else it will become deformed.

No. An egg is produced but when they get "pregnant" the egg is fertilized to produce a chick.
