no..the yanks were wimps.. china barked at them, and they sat back like frightened puppy dogs.

if Iran hold our lads, we shall "extract" them, and use the time honoured defence..well they started it, we aksed nicely... and they refused our polite diplomatic request... so we do what we do...

thhis is England we're on about... we havent lost a war in almost 250 years... we may have lost a few battles... but wars... well, thats what were bred to. killing the emeny and upholding the freedoms which we were granted in 1215 by king John...

read the small print... we dont back down... its not in our nature.

We can draw all the parallels we like, make up worst case scenarios and etc. What we're not going to be told is exactly what is happening. If we're lucky some smart investigative journalist may manage to smuggle out a near truthful story embellished with the usual sex scandal concerning the leadership of this or that country etc. Meanwhile we can just carry on with the guessing game.

The US Med Fleet held a massive military exercise for a couple of days off the Iran coast. A big show of strength and force. Hope the Iranians esp. Dinner Jab - or whatever, got the message.

As for China - since China is a member of the Security Council, no doubt the Brits want them in on our side.

US Spy planes [U2] are constantly gliding overhead and snapping this or that object on the ground. It's not new. It's been going on for decades.

First: the collision between the US and Chinese planes was accidental and unexpected by both nations. Contrast this with the Iranian ambush of the British sailors.

Second: The US airplane intentionally entered Chinese airspace under the basis of the international law that grants any aircraft in distress the right to land unmolested at the nearest airfield. Apparently, the British troops were taken into Iranian waters while under duress. (We do have a parallel - in both cases the people who entered the other nation's territory had no choice.)

Actually - I just thought of another parallel. Both China are playing to a domestic audience and not thinking about the diplomatic damage they are doing to themselves.

Anyone believing any news given out by the military or the governments involved is extreemly naive.. Unless I see the event , hear the event, smell the event, participate in the event, I might not believe 10 % . History will get re-written every 30 years , or sooner. Remember a place called Viet nam? I still don't know more than 2 % of What happened in Laos, Cambodia, which has been independantly validated.

i think a better parallel is the shooting down of the U2 in the old Soviet Union, between those two the best parallel is that it got very tense and eventually he was released, i don't think Iran will let these sailors go without some force exerted for troops

why is everyone against iran?
why do usa and the west think its ok to invade any country they choose?
iran have to right to detain anyone in their waters or country who shouldnt be there!!
iran is just trying to sort it out and make the truth be known that they WERE In iranian waters, GPS can be changed by the way to show they were in iraqi waters!
anyway the west is brainwashed to think all the middle east are scum which is untrue, i wish some of you would go research a few things for yourself and not rely on the news and 'media'
PEACE TO all!

Well, I've given much thought to this nutty little problem, and, I'm very happy to say an emphatic " Yes, we can ! ".

To be specific, the 30th.

Both the Shatt al Arab ( has a nice 'ring' to it, don't you think ? Sort of cloacal with a Scheherazade accent ) waterway, and the beautiful city of Chengdu, share that latitude, give or take.

Glad to be able to clear that up for you. :-)

Sure... China and Iran aren't above committing PIRACY and KIDNAPPING to draw attention towards them.

The EP-3 Orion was attacked by Chinese aircraft in international airspace, and then forced to land in China.

Note that China and Iran are allies.
