I don't care what you call me as long as you tell me that you love me, and think that I am beautiful.
and call me in time for dinner. or lunch, or breakfast, or a snack, but especially for Ice Cream.

Jesus real name in Hebrew is Yeshua ben Yosef, not Esau. Esau was the son of Issac and Rebecca

And how do you KNOW that his name was Esau ben Mariam. Mary wasn't called Mary but neither was she called Mariam ... and we call him 'Jesus' because that is what we have 'learned' from the Bible we read in ENGLISH ... it wasn't WRITTEN IN ENGLISH but is a 'translation' ... and I wouldn't mind being called by another name that 'means' the same as my name if I was in 'another country' and I really doubt that OUR SAVIOR is so 'picky' about his 'name' that he wouldn't want to be 'addressed' as Jesus ... or as any other 'human name.' I just call him 'my God, and my Savior' and he seems to 'be fine with that.'

The Complete Jewish Bible uses the name Yeshua. If I'm not mistaken the change came in when the Latin was translated to English. It's like the names Ivan and Ian can be translated to John.

Why would you translate every single word in the Bible into English and leave the name of Jesus untranslated? Even if you did leave at untranslated it is not the name Esau but the name Joshua.

In Latin it is Jesu Christe.
The name Guisseppe Verdi translates from Italian to English as Joe Green.
How would you correctly pronounce the name of the Libyan president? And how do you spell it correctly in our alphabet?
Think about those points when you wonder about the english version of the name.

Informative. Many thanks.
Although I don't know that it makes much difference, I doubt you'll be able to convince all Christians to start calling him Esau.

What is his real name Jesus Christ, Yeshua Ben Yousef, Yahweh Ben Yahweh, Immanuel, Joshua or what? I'm confused about all of that myself. I've heard people call him many things.

It is still the same name. Look at the name John. Ian, Sean, Jan, Johann, Evan, Giovanni, Juan, Jean, Hans -- they all mean the same thing: John.

If someone calls you by the wrong name, but you know they are speaking to you, you WILL reply, won't you? Don't you credit Him with the same courtesy? Don't you think He knows when a soul cries out to Him?
