Can anyone give me some ideas as to what would be some low fat or low calorie choices at a Chinese buffet?

Thank you!

The problem with Chinese buffets is that many of the goodies are deep-fat fried.

Avoid the egg rolls, fried won tons, and the little fried biscuits covered in sugar.

Avoid anything that consists of a fried meat with a sauce.
(sweet and sour chicken, for example is often a fried "nugget" drowned in a sweet sauce.)

Choose steamed rice over fried rice (avoid the noodles).

Choose things like beef broccoli and other items where the meat is sauteed, not batter-fried, and vegetables are a major part of the dish.

Any dish featuring bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, snow peas, broccoli onions, peppers or other vegetables in equal proportions to the meat are preferable to the items with just a meat and cashews or peanuts or such...

That's gonna be hard because a lot of chinese food is deep fried and stir fried. But some chinese restaurants will cook your dietary requests, and some even have a special diet menu. choose white or brown rice if they offer it instead of white rice, chicken with vegetables.. I'm going to tell you right now your options are gonna be limited at a buffet because a lot of that food is fried, so you might want to opt for something else.

Go closer to the vegetable dishes, do not take an excessive amount of rice and steer clear of whatever fried. Personally, I doubt I'd have the force to refuse a Crab Rangoon. Drink plenty of water together with your meal to support flush the salt out of your approach as rapidly as viable. Have amusing!

You're better off ordering from the menu. Everything is either deep-fried or been sitting around soaking up the cooking oils.

Try Chicken or tofu stir-fry with veggies and brown rice (if they have it). Be adament about no oil being added to the chicken and veggies.

There aren't any real good choices, but you can reduce some of the calories by limiting the sauces, avoid greasy egg foo yung, sweet and sour anything.

The soups are usually okay.

lots of rice..brown rice would be the best solution. Go for foods that have little oil and always go for the grilled WHITE meat.
