religion is NOT the greatest cause of death!
FEAR, is !!!
am I right ... fearful question.
am i wrong ... fearful question.
is my God the strongest ... fearful question.
will I be poor ... fearful question.
am I not the most powerful ... fearful question.
why are "they" different ... fearful question.
people fear what they do not understand. to prove they do NOT fear they hurt or kill the object of the fear or the misunderstood.
fear not. then live well.
hope this helps

Theistic religion is a virus of the mind - a mass schizophrenic delusion. Around 90% of all wars have been caused by and/or justified by theism.
Including:
# The Spanish Inquisition
# The Crusades
# The Divine Rights of Kings
# Witch Trials in Europe and America
# The perpetuation of Slavery
# The decades of violence between Jews and Moslems in the Middle East
# The decades of violence between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland
# The 9-11 tragedy
among many others...

I'm an atheist, here's your answer.
Actually Authoritarianism is the greatest causer of death from the hand of mankind. Authoritarianism comes in 2 main forms, both Religious and Governmental. The greater those things are Authoritarian the greater the atrocities they commit.

Well let's see:
The Crusades
The Inquisition
The Holocaust
9-11
The whole thing in the Middle East
Darfur
Bosnia
You get the point. I am not sure I would site it as the biggest cause. There are wars over territory too, but most have a big religious component. I don't think that war would go away without it, but there would be one less big stupid thing to fight over.

I think that dogmatic beliefs are the leading cause of hatred...
Never said anything about death...
Umm, the KKK is trying to get prayer put back into school, they are a "faith-based organization". Hitler was a Catholic who was personally blessed by the pope. The only communist who mass-murdered people in the name of atheism was Mao Zedong...

we all say that? You have spoken to every atheist in the world? Or, are you simply making generalizations?
I have NEVER met an atheist that says "religion is the greatest causer of death today".
-I have said (and have heard other atheists say) that "religion is one of the greatest problems and sources of hatred in our world today"....which is a VERY different statement. I challenge you to show me ONE QUOTE on this site by an atheist that says what you claim we say, SHOW ME ONE.
HAHAHA, you are honestly sitting there and saying Hitler and the KKK were atheists??? Try reading a history book pal, Hitler was a Christian BLESSED BY THE POPE!!! And most KKK members are Christians also. Try reading a book sometime.

I've never heard anyone say that.
The greatest cause of war, maybe.
Care to rephrase your question?
Here's a challenge to you Sir. MouthsOffALot:
Post a few links to where people made this claim.
I'll save this link so you can shove it in my face.
War and death are pretty much the same thing? What war did my aunt die in when cancer killed her? The great tobacco war of 2007?

No, I would say smoking is prooobably the greatest cause of preventable death. In the US, I believe car accidents are the greatest cause of death period, but they aren't considered as preventable.
World wide, I bet smoking is higher and car accidents are lower. AIDS is probably up there, although religion must share much of the blame for AIDS.
What I have said is, religion is uniquely divisive and murder empowering.

I don't know ANY atheists who believe that religion is the greatest cause of DEATH. Where did you get that information? Sources, please. They do believe that it is a leading cause of WAR. (Not the ONLY cause of war, but a leading cause of war.)
Hitler was not an atheist. http://www.creationtheory.org/Morality/Hitler.shtml
http://nobeliefs.com/hitler.htm
And as to the KKK -- "They consider themselves a Christian organization and base their doctrines upon their own reading of the Bible. Their theology is strongly influenced by Christian Reconstructionism - they hope to "reconstruct" the United States along biblical (primarily Old Testament) lines and to establish a white-dominated theocracy. Actually, atheists do not believe that religion is a cause of death. Atheists are people who do not believe in god. That's all.
Anti-religionists are people who believe that religion is a cause of death. The two; atheists and anti-religionists, are not necessarily the same.
Have a nice day, yourself.
