It is possible but very dangerous and not healthy. Make sure he is taking vitamins every day. What he needs to do is eat four times a day. However, the meals should be a handful of nuts or reisens. Maybe a piece of bread and juice. He can't eat much more then that. Then a day before the weigh in he has to completly stop drinking water. He can have a sip once or twice. He needs to not just run but do sprints for 30min to an hour. Going in burst like that makes your body work long after you are done working. Also, sex is a great workout. If he does that, he should be fine but make sure he is taking vitamins.

I sympathize with you. My husband is in the Marine Corps and I know how important weigh-ins are. It affects their career advancement, their worth as Marines (sailor in your husband's case), and their own self esteem.

Ironically enough, my husband is going through the SAME thing, right now. He has 6 lbs. to lose in one week. Normally, he would make the height/weight standards just fine, but the last time they measured him, he had shrunk an inch due to a slipped disc in his back, which caused him to fall into a lower weight bracket for his height.

Unfortunately, losing 14 lbs in one week isn't likely, so I'd hope your husband has a stellar military record to appeal to his superiors with to avoid being passed over for promotion and to extend his time to a more reasonable period to lose the weight. It's very dangerous to try to lose that much weight so quickly, so he needs to ask himself how important this is. If he's not in the zone for promotion anyway, his health might be more important.

However, if this weigh-in is absolutely crucial, it doesn't hurt to try to get as close as possible to the target weight. Taking a laxative and cutting calories in half is one way to lose weight rapidly. Also, I would tell him to avoid eating large meals and eat small meals throughout the day, being very conscious of the caloric intake. He should stick to low glycemic index carbohydrates and lean proteins. 48 hours before the weigh-in, I'd spend some time in the sauna to try to sweat out some excess water weight (however, he should take care to remain hydrated the rest of the time). Every day up until the weigh-in, I would try to get to the gym and do some cardio twice a day if possible. If not possible, he should try to go in the morning and on an empty stomach, as the body burns calories 300x faster in the morning on an empty stomach.

To maintain peak physical form so he never has to do this again, he should check out a diet plan that really works. I've done 'Body For Life' (you can buy the book in stores) several times now and have always loved this program. There is even a support site for people going through the program and the transformation pictures there are real...and amazing!

I used to date a bodybuilder and I know he found some of the articles on bodybuilding.com very helpful. I checked some sources there and have provided an article that discusses helping making weight during weigh-ins. The best of luck to you and your husband.

That's going to be tough. Go to the library and get the book "Eat to Live" by Dr Joel Fuhrman and follow the 1 week diet in it to the letter.

To lose the weight he'll have to burn a net 7000 calories per day (which is ridiculous) he might be able to pull off the inch loss by working out 2 times a day. He should jump rope for a few hours. Hopefully the strain he is putting on his body doesn't cause him a heart attack.

That is impossible. You can't even lose that much weight that fast with gastric bypass surgery!! It's easier to lose inches off the waist than the actual body fat because everyone has a water weight and actual body fat. Since our bodies are comprised of mainly water, that's what goes first, but you have to really work hard to get the body fat off. remember, 3500 calories burned equals one pound. And even in a 1-2 hour working out really hard you won't come close to burning that many calories. Be realistic, because if you don't believe me, consult with a physician, nutritionist or someone that works in a gym and believe me there's no magical way to lose weight. NO pain, no gain. But let's keep it real, there's no way in hell he could do that without harming himself. Just tell him to try his best and stay on his plan and go from there.

The only way he can lose that much weight that quickly is to lose water weight (the same way wrestlers do). And that will not change his weight measurement. In order to lose that much fat he would have to lose two pounds of fat a day or roughly have a calorie deficit of 7,000 calories a day. That is not possible. As far as losing water weight, that won't affect his waist mesurement at all, but will make him lighter. Just rubber suits( do NOT work out in one, it can kill you), extremely low salt intake ( eat less salt, less salt in his body) and don't drink etc. This is a very unsafe way to lose weight for a weigh in and i urge extreme caution and that this should only be done for a day, two at most. After it is over make sure he drinks lots and lots of gatorade ( or he doesn't want to blow his health plan but still get rehydrated smartwater - same as gatorade just no calories) This plan if not done right or done to long can put you in the hospital, or kill you so please be careful and make sure he leaves himself more time next time so he can do it the right way.

It will not be healthy for your husband to try and lose that much weight in one week. A healthy weight loss should be one or two pounds at the most.

Not even a lipo will help. With a lipo u can lose inches but not weight. U'll look dinner. Is imposible to even loose 6-9 pound in a week.

Unless he exercises 5hrs a day (and that means sweating like a pig) he won't lose that much weight in so little time.

But the best way would be exercising more, eating less.. he'll lose a few pounds, but not 14.

Forget eating "healthy". In fact, my advice is to forget eating and drinking altogether for the next week. He needs to clear his bowels out, and lower his water weight. he will still likely not make his goal. But if there's a 5 lb grace area, he might... MIGHT. But consuming less altogether is the only hope.
