The above answer is absolutely correct, though I'd like to note that in most cases you can probably shorten it to the simple: "¿Qué comes?".

Gramatically, this means "What do you eat?", while the above example uses the slightly more "correct" progressive form (estar + infinitive - AR/ER/IR + ando/iendo) that translates as "What are you eating (currently)?". They have the same connotation, really, though.

If you're looking for simplicity, I'd go with "¿Qué comes?" in most informal, spoken situations.

"¿Qué estás comiendo" works fine, though.

im just guessing. i really don't speak spanish but living in the southern california i get to pick up a bit here and there.
