I am a 21 yr old female and am overweight. Everyone in my family is on the larger side, I'm used to it. But I feel like my health is starting to be affected by the extra weight and so is my self image. I need some tips and advice on ways to lose about 60 pounds. This would take me making a complete lifestyle change so I would like to start off slowly but any and all advice is definitely welcome.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats, take 300-400 calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
5-8servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water a day
5-6 small meals instead of 3 big ones (breakfast is the most important - make sure to get complex carbs like whole wheat bread, oatmeal, fruit etc)
4-6 times a week cardio for 30-50min, light weight training, many reps
no junk food, no sodas, no alcohol, no white flour (cakes, cookies, white bread, pasta etc.), nothing high in sugar (ice cream)

Well it's great that you are making the change to be healthier! I started watching what I ate and keeping a food diary (there are many online) excercising, first I was walking 30 minutes to an hour now I switch off I do walking, pilates, and jumping rope, I have lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks, but I need to loose 70 more!! Another thing that helps is to use a smaller plate...I know it sounds silly but you aren't as likely to eat as much....

the only surfire way to lose weight, if you are dead serious about it (if you aren't totally committed to it, you will just become a yo-yo dieter later in life), is to exercise (whether you just go walking 4-6 times a week, or take a bike ride) everyday of the week. I dont mean like a full hour everyday, just get some sort of exercise, whether it is 10 minutes, or 30. And also watch what you are putting in you body (this means food). Junk food, while tasty, is detrimental to your health. Just try to incorporate more fruits and vegetables. While fruit seems like a food you can have as much as you want, and I encourage you to eat it (its DELICIOUS!!) it is also PURE sugar...Incorporate more fiber into your diet as well, since fiber makes you stay much fuller, for a longer period of time....

My entire family and I went on weight watchers. I lost 30 lbs (I only 15 I needed to lose). My mom lost 70 lbs. When you lose weight slowly, you put it back on slowly too. Also, try pilates. I just started them and in one month I lost an inch and a half off my stomach. Pilates are low impact.
