I could write a book. But let me just point out a few flaws:
1. An all powerful God would not have human shortcomings like jealousy, anger, and I doubt it would have a penis.
2. An all powerful God would not need beings it created to fight its war agaist evil (something it created) for it.
3. An all powerful God would not need worshippers unless it was really insecure.
4. The bible is not proof, in and of itself, of the word of God or of God's existence.
5. The bible is a book of moral stories meant to teach people moral lessons. It's not real.

That's all I have time for. These are just a few of the major ones. I have A LOT more.

Dear Belmont,

I don't believe in Christianity simply because I don't like the idea that Jesus is so perfect and we're such miserable sinners that we could never be like him or do what he did. Also if God died for all of the sins of the world -- past, present, and future. What would be the point of that? How would humanity learn their lessons, when the picture has often been painted of Earth as a school room and Life as the great teacher.

I'm sure there are other people who have reasons that I did not express.

Sincerely,
Andrew

The key word in your question is BELIEVE. Why does a child believes in Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny? At some point, a child grows up and put away their childhood beliefs and so it is with Christianity. When a person steps outside of their dogmatic beliefs, there is a totally new world to be explored and discovered.

Why don't I believe in Christianity? The same reason I don't believe in Islam or Buddhism, or any other religion. Look, man, there are many religions, but they are simply different paths that supposedly go towards God. So it doesn't matter which religion you choose, you'll still get the same results, or the same lack of results. But trust me, the best way to reach God is to step outside and look at all the stupid things so called religious people are doing.

With all due respect, this is a rather presumptuous question don't you think? What makes you so arrogant as to believe that anyone and I mean anyone, who is not Christian should have to explain themselves or their faith or beliefs. You know, it is exactly this kind of arrogant, pretentious and frankly snobbish attitude that has turned so many away. When will you and your kind learn that you don't have a corner on the market when it comes to God. I just can't get over the hubris of this question.

BTW, I realize you may not have meant that way, but that is how it comes across.

Because it is a lie invented to fool mass amounts of people to conform to the rules. Fear is the major manipulation weapon. If people didn't conform (while it was being insisted upon just before the dark ages) they were murdered. I will not believe something because I'm scared of something bad happening when I die. I will believe what I see proven to me. I will believe what is laid out for me. I will not believe anything that doesn't give me a choice. Even when I believe it, I will always reserve the right to doubt it. That's my right as a critically thinking human being.

There is no credible evidence to believe in the historical veracity of the pertinent events portrayed in the New Testament (or the Old Testament for that matter).

Nor is there credible evidence (logical or empirical) for the existence of a god(s), much less one as typically considered in various branches of Christianity.

No proof, examples of openly christian people acting in ways I find repulsive, Unfair judgement by your god - if he were real, Other religions seem much more benign and loving.

I don't need a book of rules written by people I dont know, hundreds of years after thier messiah was said to be here anyway, to tell me what is right and wrong - my parents did a pretty good job of teaching me.

Hypocrosy, changing the rules to suit what ever society of the time feels they should be (old test, new test, contraception, female priests etc etc)- if it were the word of god, shouldn't it stay the same for ever?

If you were to study theology, the majority of religions throughout the world are so similar in many ways. Especially those that are monotheist. I cannot fully believe Christianity because it shares many similar aspects with other religions of the world. I respect those that do, because they readily maintain their faith.

Sure. Write down why you don't believe in Zeus, Odin, Aton, Ahura Mazda, Quetzalcoatl and the religions surrounding them. Now cross out those names and write in Jesus. You've just answered your own question.
