NO OFFENSE INTENDED!!

I am not trying to condemn anyone or prove anything. I just want to know what the difference between supposed "baptist Christians" and "Jehovah Witnesses." I KNOW that they both believe in God and Jesus. But isn't it true that their bibles are different? Don't Jehovah Witnesses believe that only 144000 can get to Heaven whereas Baptist Christians believe anyone can get to Heaven? What else major is different, the things that cause controversy that is. Thanks for your politeness and answers.

Hello there! I appreciate your question and I'll try to be helpful, although it's difficult to be brief. :) I've provided a link to a page that explains our beliefs and provides scriptures that you can click on and read. I'll give you a few examples of our beliefs myself.

Major differences include that we follow Jesus' commands to preach the good news of God's Kingdom, and to commemorate his death. The Memorial of Christ's death will be observed this year on Monday April 2. (Call your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses to find out what time it will be held in your area.)

I'm sure you'd agree that only those who believe in Jesus would go to heaven. What hope then, for all of God's ancient servants who never knew him? Well, King David wrote that these could look forward to the time when the meek would inherit the earth, and Jesus also spoke of this. (Psalm 37:11, 29; Matthew 5:5) That is the future of which I dream.

Our bible is different from most, not because it was changed to reflect our beliefs, but because the NWT was not based on the King James Version. A very interesting book to consider is, "Truth in Translation: Accuracy and Bias in English Translations of the New Testament" by Jason David BeDuhn. The author gave the New World Translations high marks for accuracy actually, although not agreeing with the use of God's personal name Jehovah in the New Testament.

Remember that Jesus said his Father was looking for ones who would worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:23, 24) Acts 17:11 shows that those who were becoming Christians in ancient Beroea were considered noble-minded because they daily examined the scriptures to be sure of their beliefs. All who desire to truly please God today do well to follow their example. :)

I am so cheerful you requested former Jehovah's Witnesses to reply this query. Otherwise, how would you ever uncover out why they left? There are a few exciting solutions out of your non secular brothers and sisters - however now not certainly one of them has arise with the noticeable. While I was once a Jehovah's Witness, I additionally idea I had the real faith and there was once no manner I was once ever going to go away it. That might be particularly dull, would it, to go away what you believed to be real that gave you peace of brain. Neither did I go away considering I was once immoral or any individual stumbled me or I with ease did not wish to reside as much as the Bible's top requisites. I wasn't blending with worldly individuals, I did not soak up smoking or consuming. In reality, I was once pioneering and I was once married to a pioneer. So why did I go away? You have got to comprehend that my mum and dad grew to be Witnesses within the 1930's, and that I knew not anything rather than what Jehovah's Witnesses believed. We have been all anticipating the top of 6,000 years of guy's lifestyles to finish within the fall of 1975 (I can furnish the Watchtower quotations for those who doubt me) and that supposed Armageddon might come quickly after. My mum and dad believed they have been the new release that might see the fulfilment of the top-time prophecies in Matthew 24 and they might be alive whilst the Millennial reign of Christ began. None people made any of this up. We all believed what the Society instructed us. Guess what? This prophecy was once fake - we are nonetheless ready, 33 years later. This is the purpose I left - fake prophecies approximately dates and predictions whilst 6,000 years of human lifestyles will finish. Any peace of brain I had was once shattered whilst I realised the level to which I have been deceive. I am now a born-once more Christian with a heavenly wish and I compliment God that, by way of the Holy Spirit, he introduced me to a position of repentance and forgiveness. Religion does now not retailer. Only Jesus Christ can do this.

Yes, they do have that difference...

another is the trinity , the witnesses don't believe that the father, the son and the holy spirit are the same person which is backed by a number of scriptures, in Math 26:39 Jesus prays to his father asking him to take the burden away from him, if he WAS god he wouldn't have had to pray to himself to take it away he would have just done it..... Also part of the trinity say that they are equal but at Mark 13:32 it says that no one knows the hour not the angels or the son, only the father... If they were all equal, they would all know....

Another difference is that the witnesses don't believe in hell.... heres a couple of scriptures to back that up.... Eccl 9:5,10 where it says the dead are conscious of nothing and there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol,* the place to which you are going.... Ezk 18:4 says that the soul that is sinning in itself will die so therefore if the soul cannot go on by itself how can it live forever in hell??.... Matt 27:52 says that the memorial tombs were opened and the bodies themselves were raised up, that wouldn't be possible if they were already in hell

Lastly, Jehovah's witnesses believe in nuetrality... Because, as 1 John 5:19 says, “the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” At John 14:30, Jesus referred to Satan as being “the ruler of the world.” So, no matter what worldly faction a person might support, under whose control would he really come?..... Also, John 17:16 says they are no part of the world just as I am no part of the world, therefore no matter who you were fighting for, you would be fighting for a worldly organiztion not for the godly organization that your praying for in the our father prayer.....Matt 5:43,44 says that you've heard it said you must love your neighbor and hate your enemy but I say to you you must continue to love your enemy....

The main Bible used by JW's is the New World Testament. No other denomination uses this Bible that I know of. I hear it is missing lots of scripture that is in the KJV and other Bibles, but I don't know for sure, I haven't read it nor do I intend to. JW's do not believe Jesus is God. They believe he was just a man. Mainstream Christianity believes in the Trinity; Father, Son ( Jesus Christ), & Holy Ghost all as the same God. 3 in 1, 1 in 3. They are followers of a person (Taze Russell) and a follower of his teachings, hence their own Bible. They used to use the KJV until it didn't fit their teachings anymore...... Yes, JW's also believe that only 144,000 will make it to Heaven. The rest will spend eternity on Earth which will be a paradise. The rest (heathens & all non- JW's) will cease to exist as they do not believe there is a Hell only the Grave......Yes you've guessed by now that I'm not a JW's, but what I say here, to the best of my studies and knowledge, is true.

If you would like to learn more about what Jehovah's Witnesses believe, the best place to go would be the official website of Jehovah's Witnesses.
http://www.watchtower.org/
From this page, you will find a link that discusses exactly what Jehovah's Witnesses believe as well as the Biblical reasons behind those beliefs.

You already know the answer. How could you put forth the faith, time and effort into a particular sect of Christianity that believes they are right and everyone else is going to hell? The Jehovah witnesses are correct on many minor areas of the religion that fails in comparison to their big mistakes like condemning everyone that isn't a member of their church- they haven't been in existence very long to the other major Christianity contributors, so everyone be for them is hell bound? I don't think so!!! Baptist may be into having a fancy look to you at church that Jesus wouldn't agree too but they don't self proclaim themselves as an entity that says your going to hell if you don't join them.

The book of Revelations tells us that there was to be a limit of those who would be given the Heavenly hope, that number is 144,000.
People today and in the past have been taught to fear rejection and death.
Jehovah threw his inspired word, tells us the condition of the dead and that it is just a resting place while we wait on him to bring them back to life on a Paradise earth.
Doen't that sound better than being rejected and sent to Hell?

The Jesus of Jehovah Witnesses is not the Jesus of the New Testament. They teach Jesus is not divine and is actually Michael the Archangel.
I don't know how they can reconcile this with The first chapter of the Letter to the Hebrews (please read it yourself), or with Galatians 1: 6-9 or II Corinthians 11:3-15.

On came to my door last year and I asked him that question. His response was that they take the bible literally, every word. I asked him... even the Noah story? Yup. he said.

Oh. I said. Interesting. Well, have a nice day.
