In the pt cruiser i have the stock dash stereo i herd to hook up an amp you need to buy a dash stereo with an RCA out put to make the amp work but i want to know if you can hook it up to a factory stereo and if you can how do you do it from head to toe.

To add an amplifier to a factory stereo, you need to either purchase something called a line-out converter, or use an amplifier with high-level inputs. In either case, you'll be tapping into the factory speaker wires to provide an input signal for the amplifier. The factory speakers don't have to be disconnected to do this.

Despite what some will tell you, a good quality line-out converter should give you comparable sound quality to a head unit with RCA outputs; especially if you're using it with a subwoofer amp. Here's a link to a very good line-out converter for a good price (scroll down to NE-7V)

It's a low level input, not a high level input.
