Yes they can.
Any deformity of any joint causes stress and disruption of the musculoskeletal system above it.
If your feet are not in proper alignment this caused your other muscles higher up to strain themselves to maintain the same posture, this leads to the muscles becoming fatigued and sore [in some cases back pain].
It is true that fallen arches can cause back pain, but just look for other factors:
-The commonest cause of back pain is due to old/poor mattresses, do you need to change your mattress.
-What do you do for work, do you lift things, if so do it with your knees, dont bend your back. Make sure you have a comfortable chair and take regular breaks to stretch.
-Have you had any injuries to your back.
-You havent stated how old you are, in elderly people arthritis is a strong factor, so changes in your diet would be necessary, and also regular exercise to strengthen your back.
If you have pain that spreads down the back of your leg then this means you could have a prolapsed intervertebral disc.
If you have problems holding your urine and/or motions, numbness or tingling in your legs, then you must see a doctor immediately.
Nevertheless see a podiatrist but also see your GP or a back specialist if this doesnt help, to ensure no other cause is the problem.

YES! Your whole body from the ground-up is off-centered by feet not properly supporting your bone structure. And yes, that can follow from your ankles - knees- hips-spine.....
A foot Dr. is called a podiatrist. There are a number of possibilities as to WHAT your feet are doing and WHY they are doing it. That makes the remedy specific to your feet and your frame. The Podiatrist can provide the most accurate prescription for your feet, and usually custom formed "orthodics" to support your feet in your shoes. To find a podiatrist, look in the phone book under Physicians, then look alphabetically through the specialist listings to the P's.
Certainly there are other, less expensive alternatives. Go to the pharmacy or Drug store and look through the arch supports. Try one and see if you feel any better. Keep in mind that this is a generic version of something to fit your individual foot issue.

Yes, fallen arches can put stress on your knees. This, in turn, can put stress on your back. It's like a chain reaction. Try to find some very sturdy insoles with good arch support for your shoes.
