For a beginner, your best bet is to use a bottled sauce--bake them in Italian, Ranch, or Catalina salad dressing.
The other good way is to sprinkle on a seasoning blend, like Mrs. Dash, and spray with buttery spray.
Either way, bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes---til juices are clear.
If you have a meat thermometer, it should be 170 degrees for chicken. If you don't have one---GET one....there is a fine line between chicken being done and OVERDONE.
Good luck to you, and remember---if you can read & follow directions, you can cook!!!

Wash and dry the breasts
Turn the oven to 350 and have a cookie sheet with olive oil drizzled on it ready.
In one bowl, put some flour and season lightly with salt and pepper
In another bowl, crack an egg or two and season with hot sauce, if you wish
In another bowl, pour some a mixture of 2/3 breadcrumbs to 1/3 parmesan cheese.
Put a breast in the flour, coating both sides, shake off the excess and take it for dip in the egg, coating both sides.
Drop the breast in the bread crumbs and scoop some crumbs up on top so you don't bread your fingers. Coat both sides with the breadcrumb/cheese mixture and place on the cookie sheet.
Repeat with the remaining breasts.
Sprinkle the tops of the breasts with a little oil.
Bake for 7 to 9 minutes, turn the breasts over and bake another 6 to 8 minutes, depending on the size of the breasts, or until the interior is no longer pink and the juices run clear.

2 teaspoons parmesan cheese, grated (optional)
1. Pound the chicken breasts with a meat mallet or a rolling pin, to tenderize the meat and ensure uniform thickness.
2. Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of the chicken and let sit for 15 minutes or so.
3. Heat a skillet over med-high heat, and add olive oil.
4. When pan is sufficiently heated, sear chicken breasts over high heat.

Place chicken on a lightly greased oven tray. cover with foil if you have it. helpes not to dry breasts, remove near the end to cooking to brown. if you are adding sauce add near the end of cooking if sauce has any sugars in it they will brown quickly, have a nice supper.

You should boil it in chicken broth then pour some sweet sour hot sauce on top. It sounds terribly bad but its tasty.
