According to Christianity the biblical Israelites gave sacrifices to atone for their sins. Hence the idea that Jesus was needed as a sacrifice for all sins.

I have one question though.

The Solomon’s temple in Jerusalem was built 1006 BCE and destroyed 586 BCE

The second temple was built in 536 BCE.

That leaves about 50 some say 70 years between the destruction of the first and construction of the second temple.

If an Israelite lived during this time period and had no chance in his life to give a sacrifice how was he able to atone for his sins?

After the First temple was established it was forbidden to offer sacrfices anywhere else. Only on the Temple mount was it permitted

That was the main temple, but before Solomon built his huge one the tabernacle was basically a giant tent they could carry around. High priests still would have made sacrifices so the people's sins could be attoned.

You also forgot the time period between the time that Moses first gave the law, and the time that David actually built the first temple -- a time span of possible several hundred years.

Not to mention the fact that before Moses even existed, various people, such as Noah, Abraham, and others, were regularly making sacrifices to God at all sorts of places, even though there was no temple (Genesis 8:20; 12:7; & 33:20, for examples).

It appears that the Law of Moses does not actually require for sacrifices to be made at the temple. The Law of Moses requires for a sacrifice to be made on an altar of unworked (natural) stone (Exodus 20:24-26).

===edit===

No temple is mentioned by Moses anywhere, as far as I know.

You asked: "After the First temple was established it was forbidden to offer sacrfices anywhere else. Only on the Temple mount was it permitted";

and,

"People if sacrfices were allowed anywhre else then why dont you think that Jews have not done so after the second temple?"

Answer: The simple answer is that the Jews are simply disobeying God by not having sacrifices anymore. The destruction of the temple is simply a convenient excuse to avoid having to make expensive sacrifices to God anymore.

---------
1 Chronicles 21:24
But King David replied to Araunah, "No, I insist on paying the full price. I will not take for the LORD what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing."

OK, I will grant that you have a point about Moses did speak about a certain site being choosen, but he never said anything about needing a temple buliding.

-------
4 That night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying:

5 "Go and tell my servant David, 'This is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build me a house to dwell in? 6 I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling. 7 Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?" '

They spent 70 years in exile, for not obeying God and worshiping other Gods. The reason the Isralites made sacrifices was to constantly remind them of their sinful condition, and that their only source of salvation was Jehovah, and they did not sacrifice alone, the priests of the temple did that, and Jesus did not give his life for the Isralites alone, he did so that all men could benefit from his sacrifice. Of course during the years of exile they could not have their holy days, once they returned then sacrifices could begin again, Jesus sacrifice made the atonement for sin for all who would Obey his voice. David did not build the first temple, his son Solomon did

Jesus' sacrifice was not to get rid of sin because sin is still here on earth. The purpose of his death was to conquer death and to forgive us for the sins that we commit. The temples were not always there. If you look back into the old testament, Abraham took his son up into the mountains and laid him on a rock and was going to sacrfice him to God. They had other places to make their sacrifices before and after the temples. They could still make sacrifices to be able to antone for their sins. They just weren't done in a temple. My guess is going to be that they went up into the mountains to make their sacrifices to God. If it is God's will then God will make a way!

After death, in the spirit world, every person who did not have the opportunity in this earthly life is given the opportunity to accept Christ and take his atoning sacrifice upon them. It is all part of God's perfect plan.....and you can take that to the bank!

The Levis still performed sacrifices for the people. They just didn't do it at the temple.

Same way they made them durin their wandering in the desert durin the time of Moses. You would burn it at a tabernacle built for just this purpose. At least that's how I understand it, could be wrong.
