Fresh minced garlic and cracked pepper corns will add some zip. If you're going to salt it, many recipies recommend doing this right before cooking so as not to draw the moisture out of the meat. They also recommend letting the steak stand at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before cooking and to let it rest for 5 minutes after cooking to allow the juices to settle.

Next time, if you can grill it the most recommended way is over a direct-medium fire (350°F to 375°F). You may want to try the cookout calculator at charcoalbob.com. Just enter details like the thickness and that you want it well done and it will give you instructions for how to grill a rib eye steak to perfection. It also has grilling tips.

Rib eye and New York Strip are my favorite.....Broiler to HIGH (if you have a high/low temp) and have the broiler pan about 4-6 inches beneath the flame.......timing:

Rare: 3-4 min/side

Medium: 5-6 min/side

Well: 7-8 min/side

With a Rib Eye, you'll want to watch the timing on when cooking it to well done, or you'll end up with shoe leather.....and since it's one of the tastiest steaks, my favorite seasonings?? Salt, pepper and some Worcestershire Sauce before broiling it......Enjoy!!!

tracy g is correct, for a well done rib-eye, as for seasoning
i use fresh ground pepper and kosher salt on a cut of beef
like a rib eye. on lower cuts i sometimes marinate them with
A-1' s steak marinade. i haven't cooked a steak in an oven in years, but they always turned out right, just keep a eye on it so it doesn't burn up. happy eating!!!
