NO... and if you're registered to vote while on active duty (as you SHOULD) you can still be called... though you can often get out of it.
Several times my Mom would mail me a jury summons that I would then have to respond to the Santa Clara County Court that I was 512 to 2,500 miles away and couldn't make it !!
I then when I changed my registration (marriage), I served twice while I was on shore-duty... I was a combat vet then.
When I got out, I moved and registered in my NEW home... and have been called to jury duty 8 times.
Now I like to wear my VFW cover (hat) to jury-selection... the defense almost ALWAYS strikes me ! Guess he's nervous about a clean-cut, white, veteran who would vote to FRY his client

No..
But sometimes during jury selection the defense lawyer will ask combat veterans to be excused because they think that combat veterans are not sympathetic.
Sometimes they do the same thing for butchers people that work with raw meat, hunting guides ect.
As for a law that states if your a combat veteran you dont have to do jury duty I have never heard of it.

Yes you will be excused while on active duty, but if you are a reservist or in the national guard them if called and chosen you must serve. You can only be called to jury duty in your state of legal residence, so if you are form Texas but stationed in Virginia then only Texas can call you for jury duty.

No. People who are currently serving can be. I was excused while I was, but it doesn't give you a lifetime exemption. I was dissapointed because I have always wanted to serve on a jury but my command actually wouldn't let me. Why wouldn't you want to do your civic duty?

my husband has been called twice and hes active duty air force, once he was in iraq and never even got the summons.....the other time was when we were stationed in japan and he called and told them he couldnt come. even being active doesnt stop you from getting called, but you can get out of going if your active, once your out your fair game though.
