what causes that pain in your side when you run

It seems obvious... but actually it isn't. Doctors have been trying to figure that out for years!

A South African professor, however, not only came up with a cause but a sort of treatment. The pain is actually caused by ligaments attached to your liver being stretched as you bounce up and down while running.

You can give the ligament some 'rest' by standing still, lifting your liver a bit, and pushing your diaphragm down. This reportedly eases the strain and speeds recovery.
