I do believe it is superstition but I also live in Greece where the evil eye is a pretty big deal. I can tell you what they do here, they wear the symbol of a blue eye as a necklace or bracelet or have it on a key chain..Sometimes you have to ask someone to remove the evil eye for you. You could try posting this in the greek section and ask if anyone knows about "ksematiasma" (removing evil eye).

In the late 20th century it became the custom to wind a red string around the tomb of the great Matriarch, Rachel, located near Bethlehem, in the West Bank, then to cut the string into pieces and give them out to be worn on the left wrist as an effective protection against the evil eye. According to this custom, the left hand is considered to be the receiving side for the body and soul, and by wearing the red string on the left wrist, believers receive a vital connection to the protective energies surrounding the tomb of Rachel, carrying her protective energy with them and drawing from it any time there is need. The Kabbalah Centre puts much emphasis on this custom, which is virtually unknown in classical Kabbalah.

Buy and wear a chamsa.
Or, you can wear something either red or blue everyday--both colors protect against the evil eye. Blue jeans are fine, a red string about your wrist like the Kotel red bracelets are fine, too.

Sadly, there is no known protection from the evil eye, you must consult the shamanistic fetishists to understand the true nature of the soul and release it into the dharmic underground, then you will be safe, but, really, there is no protection, that is more of a placebo really.

they say a red ribbon around your wrist will do the trick . In some cultures, this red ribbon is placed on newborns due to all of the attention ( eyes) that the babies get.
It is believed that some people may give the child the "evil eye" unintentionally.

There's certain items that according to many, keep the evil eye from causing any bad luck etc... For example for newborns there's red bracelets, earrings, necklaces etc.. that they can wear. As for adults there's probably some type of item that protects one from harm as well.

Well, there are amulets and talismans, and sometimes people would wear a red string on their left wrists. I think the Eye of Horus was supposed to protect against it.
