I think that as perfect human beings they were telepathic. It's a theory. Languages were forced upon humans at Babel. Works? Maybe not. Back to the drawing board.

It's quite possible that since being created perfect they had no need for a spoken language. They communicated in "Godspeak".

in Islam,according to the holy qur'an,when ALLAH created Adam(pbuh) he taught him all thing,all names and told him to tell all the angels their names,he did and they were amused,that shows that ALLAH had preferred Adam above all the other creatures and then he taught Eve:
"[31] And He taught Adam the names of all things; then He placed them before the angels, and said: "Tell Me the names of these if ye are right."
[32] They said: "Glory to Thee: of knowledge we have none, save what Thou hast taught us: in truth it is Thou Who art perfect in knowledge and wisdom."
