It was not. Mexicans are not U.S. Native Americans. This land doesn't belong to Mexico. U.S. Native Americans want nothing to do with Mexicans. The warrior Apache Chief Geronimo was proud to have killed so many Mexicans after they brutally killed his wife, his children, and his mother.
Also, The Southwest's Apache language is not Aztec( Mexican ). The Apache language is part of the Athabaskan (Na-Dene) Language Family which is spoken from California to Alaska. ( Not Mexico )
It was actually Spanish terroritory. People from Europe created and named the first cities in California.

Long story short: The Southwest (California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas) was originally a part of Mexico. During the Mexican-American War (circa 1847), American Troops forced the then Mexican President (General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana) to surrender after he was captured in San Jacinto (sleeping, not in a battle). Actually there were never battles in California or Arizona or New Mexico. He ceded the northern part of Mexico (the territories mentioned) to the US. Most people in Mexico regard Santa Ana as a traitor, and there is a feeling that those territories were not lost in a war but cowardly "given away" to the Americans. Hence the "stolen" feeling.

There isn't enough room here to go over the whole settlement of the West.
Do some reading and studying on the history of our West and you will see why. Most of the west, including Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, California and other states were Mexican territory. If you read history you will find out how they lost it.

Because they are illiterate illegal immigrants who cant read the real story. On the other hand they probably know the truth but just want to believe a lie so they can try and take the land back by continuing to invade America illegally. Somebody throw some piranhas in the rio grande river already!

They seem to forget that Mexico ceded that land to us after they started and lost the Mexican-American War (1846-1848)...
That led to The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in which Mexico ceded 525,000 square miles to the United States in exchange for USD$15 million. The United States also agreed to take over $3.25 million in debts Mexico owed to American citizens.
"STOLEN" ?? The Louisiana Purchase was 828,000 square miles for $15 million ($23 Million with interest)... sounds like the Mexican Government got a GREAT DEAL !! OR the French got screwed !!
The TRULY amusing thing is MOST of those who are in the USA and complaining... AREN'T US Citizens... their illegal immigrants who resent that the Americans turned the land into a profitable part of the USA.
$CREW LA RAZA !!

The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was the peace treaty that ended the Mexican-American War (1846–1848). The treaty provided for the Mexican Cession, in which Mexico ceded 1.36 million km² (525,000 square miles) to the United States in exchange for USD$15 million.

That's the only thing " LaRaza " could come up with to justify all the illegals coming into the US .
It gives the Mexicans something to all come together about .
We all know that the US won that war .

It was. The mexicans lived in the west long before white people came. Just like the American Indians. Their land was taken from them just like the indian's land. The mexicans were eventually forced into Mexico. All people should have the right to live wherever they want to. This land does not belong to man. It belongs to God. The reverse is true also. The mexicans and indians have no right to keep out other races either. But if you live on land it should not be taken from you.
