I do not agree with either of these answers here. Of course squash is a vegetable but we are talking drinks here!
In England we have squash on sale in the supermarket. It is a concentrate in a bottle that you mix with water before drinking. you can keep it for ages and have anytime. We have flavours like orange, lemon, lemon barleywater (as drunk at wimbledon!) and other fruits such as lime, blackcurrant, pineapple etc.
Cordials are pretty much the same. If you look in the supermarket here you will see some of the upmarket squashes referring to thirs as a cordial.
you can make them at home and these we usually refer to as cordials. Its an old fashioned thing, and this is the connotation. It is that its full of fresh fruit and healthy!
Home made cordials would have all the fruit pulped up and strained, with sugar, and you would add water, fizzy water or lemonade before drinking.
So no in this context they do not have alchol at all, and asre basically the same thing. Its just different labels thaat make us think slightly different things...eg squashes, commercial, additives, sugar! Cordial home made, natural!
You can make delicious home made versions with things such as elderflowers...delicious! Yes they can be topped up with wine too, but squash would taste yuck like this!
Good luck!

RE:
what is the difference between cordial and squash?

A cordial is a very sweet after dinner liquor. Flavored like blueberry or cherry. It has some alcohol in it though due to its extreme sweet flavor, it is served in a very small decorative glass. Many times people will pour it over something. Cherry cordial can be poured over a chocolate cake for a more decadent flavor.

A squash, as was said before, is a vegetable. Comes in lots of different types. I recommend trying several of them. I thought I hated squash--until I started trying the more decorative ones you see in the fall.-
