GENESIS 1:1 "In the "beginning" God created the heavens and the earth"

There was no time until God created the heavens (SPACE) and the earth (MATTER)

Matter creates gravity in Space according to Einstein.

When God created the heavens and the earth, time began. Matter creates curves in space fabric thus creating momentum space/time. That simple verse explains what cuases time, matter in space, the theory of relativity?

A.Mercer, What do you mean it doesn't say time was created??? "IN THE BEGINNING"...that means time is created.

It does not need to say Gravity is created because matter as big as earth or the sun create gravity in space, read Einsteins theory of relativity.

How did the writters of the Bible know that the creation of large masses of planets in space was the beginning of space/time???

Genesis 1:1 It is written perfectly.

No. That's like saying the first person who said "it's all relative" described the theory of relativity.

The universe according to Genesis is nothing like the one we know. The sun, moon, and stars exist only as lights in the firmament. The Earth exists as a single expanse of dry land surrounded by and floating on water. Heaven is on the other side of the firmament which was close enough to the Earth for Jacob to climb a ladder to it or for Babel to attempt to build a tower to it.

If god existed he had ample opportunity to show it in Genesis. If he had described the Earth as a sphere with land on both sides separated by water, that would have been miraculous. Likewise if he had mentioned that the Earth circles the sun or that the stars were fires like the sun but far away or any one of a number of basic astronomical facts, you might have had the basis for some kind of argument. Instead Genesis describes a universe that could be made up and understood by any primitive tribe.

It never says that time or gravity was created. Just heavens and earth. If you read just a little further you will find a big contradiction. Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 both describe creation but they have it happening in different orders with different things happening.

Also, the bible never mentions when this god made the other planets. It talks about god making heavens and stars but it does not mention the myriad of other objects that can be found in the universe. Why is that? The bible is written by primative men who did not know that there were other planets out there, therefore, they could not include those in the creation story. I know, I know, you are going to lump all of that into the "heavens" part. Then why mention the stars separately?

The bible is not a substitute for a science book.

Ah, so you are saying that Genesis 2 is the part with the mistake in it? If there is so flagrent a contradiction in the first few pages of the book, then why believe that the rest of it was written any better?

see, here is the problem so many NON believers just don't get, grasp or even realize.

every version of the bible you read today, is false. let me repeat that, they are false!

they are not proper translations. they have been altered from the original word and the very book tells us 5 times to do no such thing. but many ignore these passages and accept the changed book.

if you read the original scriptures it does not say " in the beginning ", that is a miss translations. It actually says " a beginning "

they are 2 totally different meanings. some say this is a contradiction but its clearly not, its a miss translation due to 4 languages being involved. and the fact many have allowed non scholars to re-write the book. (Kings James, Christian Study classes of 1929, etc, etc)

when people know the truth, know the REAL word of the book, then they will see the light or understand the book. cause even God says that changing even 1 word from the book is wrong, and to do will alter its meaning.

PS - since another above me mentioned the "contradtion" in Genesis there isn't one. If one has knowledge one will realize the "light" it says it creates frist is the spirtual light, not actual physcial light. That wasn't created till day 3 or 4 I believe. Many don't grasp this simple fact that there are 2 forms of "light"

That is an example of science proving the Bible.

Here is a portion of an interesting article. Full article can be seen below.

Let us notice some examples of the harmony between science and the Bible. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Gen. 1:1) This was written by Moses through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit about 1500 B.C. In 1820 A.D. a man named Hubert Spencer gave the world five scientific principles by which man may study the unknown. They are time, force, energy, space, and matter. However, Moses, by inspiration, gave us those scientific principles in Genesis 1:1. "In the beginning" --time; "God"-- force; "created" -- energy; "the heavens" --space; "and the earth" -- matter. All of Spencer's scientific principles are right there in Genesis 1:1.

Wrong! The Bible doesn't have one iota to say about Einstein or relativity. Stop trying to rationalize the text. Read it as it is written. America isn't in the Bible. Neither is NASA. Or Muslims. Or anything that has occured since 200 AD or so. Get over it. The Bible is ancient mythology and that's all it will ever be.

If that is so, how did it take him 6 days.

Besides, the bible is just trying to say that god created everything. Time is part of everything, so they threw that in.

The people that wrote that still thought the earth was flat and stationary.

Well thats a nice way to try and make it all fit, you get an A for effort.

Now is it possible to explain God's reasoning that Free Will is more important than millions and millions of people burning for eternity in hell?
