Unfortunately, tis the season for "grass barf!" All my life I have watched and tried to stop every dog I have owned to not eat grass to no avail. Most Vets will tell you it's okay for them to eat grass, only don't let them take on the feeding like a Cow. I let my two boys munch for a few minutes and then leave them on the porch till it's safe enough to bring them in.

Dogs eat grass in order to upset their stomaches. Did you suddenly change its food? Are you using the best brand of food for you dog? He may be trying to make up for a vitamin deficiency or a lack of roughage in their regular diet. Check these things and see if he stops eating grass. Some dogs just like grass, which is okay because unless the grass is treated w/chemicals cannot hurt them.
Try changing his diet or if the vomiting is excessive, contact your vet.

They like the way it tastes. And they are throwing up because of hair balls probably. The grass is an agent that helps them expel the fur in their stomachs. Brushing him more can help him. If he continues to throw up regardless of whether he's out eating grass, than he might need a vet? There are also dry dog foods at the vet--modified formulas that help with this too. Call your vet and he'll sort you out the best.

Usually dogs eat grass to make themselves throw up because their stomachs are upset. Find out what is wrong with the dogs stomach and he/she will stop eating grass.

It is actually good for them, believe it or not. It helps their digestive tract. We have our appendix removed because we have evolved passed using it to breakdown heavy fibers. The appendix is actually an offshoot of the ceacum which is used for the breakdown of these heavy fibers, to put it simply. Dogs are bigger than ours and smaller than say, a cow that needs to breakdown a lot of hay. The grass helps keep their ceacum functioning properly, if I remember correctly it feeds the bacteria that live there (that could be wrong).
I know they tend to throw up the grass after they eat it, I am guessing here but I would say that dogs have been domesticated long enough not to really need their ceacum anymore either. They eat grass because it is a natural urge. I wouldn't worry about it, just let him have his grass and eat it too.

Dog's usually eat grass once they have digested something that has made their stomach upset. Grass is nature's way of inducing vomiting once a toxin has entered the body. If they are eating a lot of grass and vomiting A LOT it would be intelligent to consult a veterinarian. But as a one time use it's perfectly ok.
Hope it helps:)

Dogs do this to settle their tummies. It's very common...if it's happening more than 2 or 3 times a week, you may want to check with a vet, but otherwise, invest in some natures miracle. I usually watch him when hes outside and if hes eating grass, I leave him out a little longer.

Most people think they do it to settle their stomachs and this may be true, but most likely it is because they are craving the chloroform that occurs naturally in grass. They make chloraform drops that you can get from a health food store and you can put it in its water and this may help to cut down on the problem. Chances are, they will continue to eat grass no matter what you do, its just plain fun!

Dogs eat grass to relieve a gas filled tummy or an upset tummy, it helps them throw up and relieve discomfort, dont worry unless the grass is sprayed with something toxic......its normal though.

Animals usually eat grass when they have an upset stomach, but if he has been doing this for a while, you need to call the vet to see if there is something else going on with him.
