I have a little concept for you.

Your god COULD BE one of THOUSANDS! Why devote your life to a 1 in 2500+ chance of being WRONG- when you could believe in NOTHING, never have to wake up early in the morning, listen to cooler music, and not have to worry about what denomination your neighbor is! Whats the worst that can happen? look at the odds- 50/50 Theism/Atheism... but with Atheism, you don't even have to pick one god! You can deny ALL OF THEM AT ONCE!!!

Wouldn't you rather give it a try than be WRONG?

I have a SIT DOWN job. I don't want a relationship with Jesus.... wouldn't be very ergonomic.

In a strange way, the concept of believing in, or even devoting their lives to a god, makes a lot of people feel better about what will happen "if" there is some sort of life after this one. Their doctrines teach them that if they keep praising their god, it will help them in this life and in some sort of heaven when they're dead. It's not in particular the certainty of there being a god, it's more the uncertainty of there being a god that makes theists behave the way they do. Many asked themselves the question: What happens when I never believed in and prayed to a god, and didn't believe that 3=1, and at once when I die there seems to be an afterlife and I have to accounts for your former earthly life, what do I answer?
For many people religion is some kind of "death insurance". I'm still an atheist tho.

Hmm....good point. For my religion I don't have to get up early, don't listen to "cooler" music (whatever that is), and I don't worry about what denomination my neighbor is. The worst that can happen isn't that bad, (if you believe what I do) but the worst that can happen in this life is exponentially great. Just think, no vices, no uncertainties, no regrets, no lasting sadness, no addictions, no worries! So, why wouldn't I believe in God. Choosing nothing is choosing lameness. Choosing something is empowering.

Well, this lifetime is a wee too short to go out and personally try to experience all of the thousands of Divinities out there, so I'll be content just to stick with me and ol Erishkigal, Innana, Thoth, Cougar, the Vortex, and the Fae. (and well, if anyone else comes a knockin- been real into Artemis/Melissa lately- whole Bee thing you know) Don't worry bout neighbors though, I keeps ma faeries in ma own yard. Well, I guess I DO worry a little if my neighbors are evangelical/fundementalist... don't make an issue of my spirituality, but they might if they sniff around enough.

As for being wrong or right... not worried about afterlife. Concerned about making a 'heaven'- right here, right now.

Actually all other concepts of gods are corruptions of the one true God. There have always been false gods. Apparently the god you follow is the god of self. I'll take my 50/50 chances gambling with eternity on the side that offers nothing to lose. So no, I would not like to give that a try.

I serve one God the true Living God and I am very satisfied with Him.....I listen to cool music and have plenty of fun and could care less what kind of denomination my neighbor is....you sound silly.....I wake up late in the morning not early....I work the late shift and don't beat myself up if I don't go to church every time the doors are open..that is bondage.......you have no idea what God requires of a Christian and you have only misinformed concepts of what it is to be a christian but what amazes me is that all like you think they know it all and consider yourselves lucky.....sad isn't it....

That is a NON-believers perspective. Most of the "thousands" of gods have been around since the days of Biblical times, yes? Rebekah,(Jacobs wife) stole her father's (Laban) "house-hold Idols." And when Joseph (Jacobs youngest) was Governor of Egypt, he put his family in Goshen, where the population wasn't so big. Why? So they would not indulge in the many "gods" Egypt had. Now it is fair to say that all those other gods were spawned off the "REAL God."

OOOOO Wariorsssssss Time to Come PPPLLLAAAAaaaayyyy

Nice question structure.....

The best way to choose a god is to write all the different religions onto a pieces of paper, put a piece of gum on the wall and throw the paper against the wall as hard as you can.

If god is real, wouldn't he direct the paper to reveal his true identity? Especially if you promised to serve him, and honestly couldn't figure out which religion was true. Why wouldn't a real god direct the paper to hit the gum.

nope, i think believing in the one true God is find with me. And i know i am not wrong. i listen to WAY cool music, Skillet, Jeremy Camp, Hillsong, so whats the deal with the music? i dont worry about my neigbors, and i wake up early cuz i have to go to work.
wouldnt you rather be RIGHT and live in a life of glory than be wrong and live in a life of damnatin? seems pretty easy to me.

Reverse Pascal's Wager. Do we christians need to drink now?

And I listen to cool music now - lots of "non christian" stuff. (Bet I could beat you at "name that tune" for anything from 1960 to now - except for rap. - oooh, a betting theist. ) I don't worry about my neighbour's denomination and only wake up early when I need to go to work. Not missing anything.

BTW - my God is one of thousands of deities we perceive.

Good luck with that theory

Let's discuss it in about 200 years and see how it went for ya.

I'll stick with the one true God.
