Honestly it is harder to go lighter and I would get it done professional. I heard that when people do it their self it can turns a funky color like orange or purple. So let a professional do so your hair will come out the right color.

You Can "Do-It-Yourself" But, I Would Recommend Having A Professional Do It. If, You "Do-It-Yourself" Get A "Haircolor" Remover, L'Oreal ( At Drugstores) Or Try The Beauty Supply If You Do It CAREFULLY (With The RIGHT Product) You MIGHT Not Need To Recolor. IF, You Need To Recolor. Shampoo Thoroughly To Remove The Chemicals (Two Or Three Times) And Use A Good Deep Conditioner. (if You don't remove the chemicals your "new" color may not "take" OR it may fade or change afterward) You May Need To "Refresh" The Color Every Couple Of Weeks At First (Use A "Semi" Or "Demi" Permanent Color For This) This Is "Normal" But, Soon The Color Will Last A Normal Amount Of Time. Good-Luck!

I would always recommend a professional, but there are some people that just refuse and attempt to do it themselves. You first have to remove the old color, or you could bleach.

I would get it professionally done unless you have good experience and know how to do it yourself. I hope this helps!

I would want to know if you had red tones in your hair or not, and also, if you had visible root growth. It is important. :)
